I used Viacord twice (9/09 & 4/12) & have been very happy with them. We chose them over the other companies because at the time they had the most experience performing transfers to treat the types of cancers & blood disorders that are prevalent in our immediate families. The service has been great & I'm always quick to recommend them.

Same here, viacord. Mostly just because at the time there was a free seminar thru my high risk dr's office. While there they offered a discount for signing up and they showed a chart saying why they were better than every where else.

my friend had twins about a year and a half after I did and when she did her research she said CBR was better but I am not sure why. I think if I was to do it again I would do both the blood and the placenta storage vs just the blood since that covers more cancers than just the cord blood.

I used cbr. I felt the representative was knowledgable and he wasnt pushy. I called viacord and was not happy with their representative at akk. He didnt even care to ask my name.

CBR. They offer a huge discount if you know someone who used them before. We had a great experience.

Cord blood banks

Via cord, by OB recommendation twice. They had told me to be careful of small companies, they may go out of business, not sure if that's true though

That's a good point!!! Thanks for that! I was thinking about a small company but I think maybe we'll go with one of the bigger ones.

I use ViaCord, but should have went to CBR solely on the fact that ViaCord's website does not allow a person to create a user ID and access their account online. What year do they think it is?!?!? CBR on the other hand, allows you to create a username and password to access your account.

Re: Cord blood banks

Used CBR in 2009 and could not have been happier. I delivered earlier due to helath issues unexpectedly and was able to set everything up and have a kit delivered to the hospital i was goign to within a couple of hours, literally. I called my CBR rep (i had spoken to them before but not signed anything nor set up payment) from the LIRR freaking out. They were wonderful and when I was admitted to L&D 2 hrs later, the kit was there. Am preg again and will be using them again.

Re: Cord blood banks

We used CBR twice. For me it was between them and Viacord and they offered a better promotion.
