Pregnancy safe cleaning items
DH has been cleaning our bathrooms since I found out I was pregnant because the chemicals I use are not safe. DH couldn't do it this weekend and we have OOT guests coming on Thursday. Since I am home today, I would like to see if I can do it for him but not sure what to use.
The biggest thing is the soap scum in the shower. Anyone have any solutions?. I had tried some green products but they don't seem to be as effective.

There is a method brand bath scrub that works pretty well. It's annoying to use and you really have to scrub it in and rinse well, but it works and doesn't have harmful chemicals. It's in like a blue squeeze bottle type thing.

Pregnancy safe cleaning items
I never used anything different. I just stayed away from bleach and made sure the window was open.

For the shower I use a mix of method dish soap and white vinegar. I saw it on pintrest and it really has been working. I filled a spray bottle with half of each, spray in shower, let sit for a few minutes then wipe off with wet paper towels or just run the shower.

This. I haven't used anything different. I don't use bleach and I make sure all doors and windows are open to air the place out so I don't sit in chemicals all day.

Same here. If I waited around for DH to clean the bathroom, the baby would already be here.

Re: Pregnancy safe cleaning items
It's 'funny', with my first child I stayed away from all the cleaning products and DH did all the cleaning. With the 2nd and 3rd kid, he has apparently and conveniently 'forgotten' that he should be doing the cleaning. I haven't used anything different, just make sure the areas are well ventilated.

Re: Pregnancy safe cleaning items
I'm currently pregnant with baby #3, I changed all of my cleaning (and personal care products) when pregnant with #1. Once the baby is born, the VOCs that the chemicals omit stay in the air and are harmful to the baby/toddler/pre-schooler who's organs and brain are still developing. I think it's great you are looking into alternatives now. I use products from 7th Generation, Method, Shaklee, and Ecover. You can look up the safety of the items on the Enivormental Working Groups site if you want to do a little more research. Also, the website Safe Mama is a great resource - she has "cheat sheets" for tons of categories from toothpaste for kids to sunscreen to wipes that are safe.

Thanks for sharing this. I didn't know that pregnancy safe products should be used even after the baby is born. To be honest, the mixture I use could kill a healthy adult if windows and doors were closed so I will definitely be looking into the link you sent.

Re: Pregnancy safe cleaning items
I have the Shark Steamer for the floor and the hand portable one... they are great, and safe, since your only using water and steam... That said I also use vinegar and lemon juice to do most my other cleaning, and make my own soap and things most the time. there are ton links for recipies for safe cleaning that you can make yourself.

Same, I also use gloves and wash my hands.

I would use Babyganics. They sell it at buy buy baby. It's all natural and safe enough you can drink it. No chemicals. They have one for the tub, glass, all purpose, etc.
