Great Wolf Lodge
I saw a deal on Groupon. Has anyone ever been to Great Wolf? Would you recommend it? Is there anything else besides the water park? I have a 3 yr and a 1 yr old.

It is a lot of fun and the price for the groupon is good. The dates did not work for us, otherwise I would have done it. There is an arcade, kids mani/pedi place, golf, bowling, craft center, and water park. It is a lot of fun. We have gone three times. I love it there.

Love it there! I would check the prices without the Groupon though just to make sure you are getting the best deal (search for coupons). In the past I found the Groupon to be expensive since we would not be utilizing all of the components (6 people, food for 6, etc.).

lots of fun! they have small poos and slides for the young kids.
you can bring your own food to save some money. they have microwaves and frdges in teh rooms

Thank you everyone. We booked for 2 nights in June. And yes Groupon is cheaper. They offer a $50 restaurant credit with the deal.

my sister in law just came home from her trip this Tuesday. She used the Groupon which she said was an awesome deal and she raved about it! She told me i should look into it!!! She has a 6 yr old, 5 yr old and 2 year old.

Great Wolf Lodge
I just wanted to add that if you have a girl/boy scout, they offer a heavily discounted rate. The dates fluctuate, but usually during the week. It came up $159 for me for a Family Suite on a Thursday and several other dates (type in the code SCOUT and hit rate calendar).

Never been, but my maiden name is Wolf and the kids at school still use it, and I totally convinced an entire class of 5th graders the other day that my family owns it and that I can give them a pass to cut all the lines, and now they have been going out of their way to help me with things. Its been pretty awesome. I am waiting for one of them to figure out that its not true.

I hope you aren't the teacher, that would be pretty sad. I'd hope a teacher would set a better example.

I haven't used it, and it's been around for years (since my son was a scout). I think they only ask for proof that your child is a scout. Vest, tunic, sash, belt, ID card if a cub scout would probably work

Omg, seriously? Its funny, and yes, I am a teacher, and a good example. Playing a little joke on them is not going to un-do any good example I am or disappoint them. These were ED kids in the South Bronx, they will laugh when they find out the truth. Joking around like this is these kids relate to each other and other people. They aren't that sensitive to be so upset when they find out that I got them. Its all in good fun.

These kids are street kids, play pranks on each other all the time, etc. They will think its funny, and they usually tell me to f*^k off, or worse, so it was kind of funny that they were trying to be helpful for a brief period of time. Wow - and these are exactly the kinds of kids who I would expect to have trust issues. I would not joke with them like this. It seems like it would backfire for you. I get joking around with them, but I would never want to have them be disappointed in me. This could absolutely go wrong in the worst way. I am surprised as a teacher you cannot see that.

Street kids? I think you're just shoving your foot in your mouth deeper and deeper. Do these emotionally disabled kids think you are possibly taking them on a trip from the south Bronx to great wolf lodge? Idk but I don't see the humor in it.

First off, I came off wrong when I said street, its a common adjective at school, and its used to mean like someone is street smart. For example, "He is street." Its kind of a good thing. I didn't mean that my students live on or in the streets, I think I used that word out of context. Sorry if I offended anyone.
What I meant to say is that, as a teacher, I know who I can mess around with, and its part of how I bond with the kids. They know I like to play around, and I said it with a wink. I didn't seriously promise I would take them to Great Wolf Lodge, and then be like "haha just kidding." I said, overexagerating, "DID YOU KNOW, my family owns that? No, seriously, I have a magical pass that lets you cut the line, so you better be nice to me." I got them, they were nice for half a day, and then I told them I was just playing, gave them a Bee Buck, and we all laughed. For those that want to pass their judgement about what a crappy, mean teacher I am, fine, but I know the students at my school, and I know I can mess around with them. That's part of why they respond to me, because I like to have fun.
And I know my students, and I am not seriously so cruel or stupid to trigger an ED kid. I know we are all the PC police around here, but when we tiptoe around kids and act like we can't joke around with them or treat them how we would treat a typical kid, that a problem for me. I have a GREAT relationship with my students, and all of the students at the school because I treat them how I would any other kid, and joking around is a normal part of a relationship.
I guess I did put my foot in my mouth, but you guys know me as a poster, I am not a weirdo or someone who posts cruel mean things, so instead of assuming I am a monster who hates ED kids and wants to make them suffer, maybe we can aire on the side of "She probably didn't mean it like the way I am taking it." You don't see the humor in it because you weren't there, and it didn't carry over like I meant it to, so fine, but please don't jump to conclusions about me as an educator because of one silly post that was meant to be funny.

Also, some of my favorite teachers were those who joked around with us, were sarcastic or funny.
And, as far as the trust issue goes, trust is built over time, and if I hadn't built trust with them over years, then I wouldn't be able to have the kind of bond with them that I do. If I didn't have that kind of relationship, then yes, it would probably blow up in my face. But, I have been there for these kids, so they trust me, and they know me, so I can tell them I have a line-cutting pass to Great Wolf Lodge without scaring them for life. I learned my lesson with this post, for sure. I thought maybe people were familiar enough with me and how dedicated and passionate I am about teaching and would get it, that it was a silly prank, and see the humor in it.

Agreed totally, and I don't know you! With everything going on in this crazy world now, people let a silly post really get to them...sad! Your kids are lucky to have a fun teacher like you who can joke around with them, but still be an authoritative figure and role model...kudos! My sis teaches in the south Bronx too...so I know all about it! Good luck, and don't let a couple of comments get you!
