How did you give Peanut Butter the first time?
On toast, crackers, your finger? Lol. For some reason I can't decide the best way to introduce it!
DD is almost 23 months and I plan to introduce it either this week or next.
ETA: I'm not that worried about an allergy as she was tested when she had a milk allergy and did not test positive for anything but milk(which she has since outgrown)...I was EBF at the time, and I ate peanut butter & nuts...so she would have been exposed from the breast milk as well...I'm more worried about her choking on the consistency of it.

Re: How did you give Peanut Butter the first time?
Our introduction was when dd was 18mo and grabbed a spoon DH put on the table after he was eating peanut butter lol. She was fine so I gave her a small dab of peanut butter on my finger on a couple of separate events. She has been exposed about 10 times now so I'm mostly comfortable.

Re: How did you give Peanut Butter the first time?
I would give a pea size amount and watch if there is a reaction before giving any more.
I have given my son, 15 months tomorrow a PBJ very thinly spread on a sandwich thin so it's manageable for him to eat.
My DD has tree nut allergy, so I had DS tested at a year and he's clear of all nuts, so that is why I have been giving so early-- to build up immunity.

We put a little bit on a baby cookie to see if he had a reaction. He was around 16 months. Then we put some on a banana & he now (20 months) eats Pb&j sandwiches.

I just put a little on a spoon for him to taste. He was fine the first time with no reaction. I tried it again the next day and his eyes swelled and he broke out in hives.
However you try it, make sure you have Benadryl on hand!

My sister used a spoon with a pea sized amount and also had Benadryl nearby just in case.

This exactly!
we didn't suspect an allergy because we have no family history of it but i think i was a little too casual about it and didn't have benadryl on hand. we had to rush him to the dr.

Re: How did you give Peanut Butter the first time?
I wasn't too concerned of an allergy, since there are none in the family, plus I definitely ate PB while pregnant and nursing with no reactions. But I still figured - better safe, than sorry!!
I waited until she was just shy of 2 years and started off by just rubbing a little bit on her arm and watching it for any kind of skin reaction the entire day pretty much. When nothing happened, the following day, I gave her a little taste. I think I put a tiny bit on a spoon and let her lick it. She didn't care for it at all. lol. But no allergic reactions! And now loves PB Cookies.

On accident with the last one. DC grabbed a cracker with PB on it and ate it around 15 months.

A Reeses Pieces, LOL. She thought it was an M&M and asked for 1 so I gave it to her. Just over a year old.

Re: How did you give Peanut Butter the first time?
My DD stole a Reese's cup out of the candy dish!! When I yelled at DH for letting her have it, she just looked at me and said, "Mommy, I yike it!"
