Ear issue / dizzy

So my ear became totally clogged feeling on Thursday, like it needed to pop but wouldn't. It was very uncomfortable. It basically got worse and Friday night and this morning, i have felt dizzy and totally off balance, especially if I tilt my head back or move suddenly. It's causing me to have no appetite. I went to an ENT this morning and he saw some fluid behind my left ear, but no infection or anything. He said just to take Sudafed (which i HATE) and Afrin nasal spray and that's really all that could be done. He didn't even seem remotely concerned with the dizzy feeling, which is the worst part!

Have you had dizziness/feeling like you're tipping over, when you've had an ear issue? What makes this better? I am so uncomfortable, afraid to drive, afraid to go far from home Chat Icon

thanks.

I'd suggest going to another ENT. I have horrible ear problems. I use to live at the ENT. I became dizzy all the time and had multiple tests done.

Here are some suggestions. From what he is telling you, he is thinking its allergy related.

Take Allegra each morning, it will help with the fluid buildup.

Ask your ENT to flush and vaccum your ears. The flush will feel SO good as well the vaccum to your ear. It pushes water through your ear and drains it out. The vaccum clears all the crap out of the ear.

After a few days the dizziness will subside.

Thank you so much. Fortunately I am feeling a lot better today. Ear is still clogged a bit but otherwise i feel good. I have a follow-up test with the ENT this week, and we'll see what he says. I will try the Allegra for sure. Thanks!

If the dizziness persists ask your ENT for a referral to a vestibular PT clinic. They can give you treatment/exercises to alleviate the dizziness.

When my DH gets vertigo related to ear issues he takes a dramamine or a bonine- any of those motion sick pills.
They help- but they do make you sleepy.

Do you have a chiropractor? I would start there. If there's fluid that's not draining a cervical (neck) adjustment can totally help! Feel free to FM me if you have a question (I am a Chiropractor).
