new sub teacher
A good friend of mine just graduated college and will be substituting new year.
I looking for suggestions for a gift for her.
She will not have her own classroom but will be going from classroom to classroom, depending on where she is needed.
Looking for something in the 20.00 range.
Thanks for any help!

Re: new sub teacher
Pinterest has a whole bunch of basket ideas for new teachers. Maybe she could use some basic supplies?

Yep. And to add to anything you find there, crossword or word search books for days teachers leave no work.

Re: new sub teacher
Maybe a nice tote bag? Possibly with Miss --- on it? The subs in our building often go from room to room and always have a bag with them to hold their stuff.

Any supplies that you would buy a regular teacher. Often the teachers supplies are locked up and she will need her own.

Re: new sub teacher
I subbed for a few years and like a pp said, you need a few of your own supplies because either the teachers desk is locked, or you are in a room without stuff like a music room or gym class or something. I had an ll bean canvas tote with a pen, note pad, mini stapler, tape, some sharpened pencils, notebook, scissors, paper clips, I even made my own hall pass because some of the rooms didn't have one and the kids couldn't leave the room without one. I had a notebook because sometimes I couldn't find paper in the room to make an attendance sheet or to leave a note for the teacher. Sometimes a student won't have a pencil on them so I always had extras. Also, I had a book or magazines with me at all times because sometimes I was the special education teachers sub in a class that had a subject teacher as well. Only a handful would want me to help out like help the kids with their work or I would even offer to make photocopies or run errands for the teacher but most times they just wanted me to sit in the back of the classroom so it was nice to have a book to read.
