Flea and tick meds
What brand is everyone using? I moved to an area with deer and I want to make sure I am using the best. I like the advantix but I have heard it's not safe. And how often do you apply? Thanks!

I use Frontline plus every 30 days. I have heard too many bad reactions to advantix and I refuse to use it.
There is something my vet told me about called Parastar plus, by the makers of Frontline, that has better tick killing action but I have never used it.

I have heard that parastar is good, I use that for my foster who is heartworm + and can't use trifexis, which is what I use for my dog.
Trifexis kills fleas, ticks and has heartworm preventative in it all in one pill.
My dog also had a reaction to advantix, so I won't use it on her or my foster.

My dog died from Advantix. Not a fan of any Flea meds but defintely do not use Advantix.

OMG I am so sorry! When my dog vomited after Advantix everyone thought I was nuts to think it was attributed to that because nobody else seemed to have a problem with it. I knew that stuff was poison.

We have used Revolution on Murphy for 10 years and never a flea/tick or side effect and it has the heartworm medication built in.

Many of the vets are moving away from frontline in certain regions due to increasing resistance by fleas. I switched to revolution for my girl and have used trifexis without any problem.

Thanks everyone. We put Advantix on my Mia and within days she was off balance, then the seizures started.
We coud not get them under control.
It was heartbreaking.
I make sure to tell everyone how bad that product is. I no longer have my Mia and that is still so devistating.
I want to make sure everyone knows how bad Advantix is. I would hate to see any one go thru what we did. Especially would not want to see any dog go thru what my Mia went thru.

And my dog had severe reaction to the frontline plus and is doign great on Advantix. I don't think you will know until you try it.

have you reported what happened anywhere?
I think my dog had a reaction to frontline and when I told my vet-he said there aren't enough documented cases to prove if frontline was the cause or not
now I don't use anything, I just comb and check them each time they are out
I don't feel comfortable using a chemical on them that their body absorbs

My now use Paratstar...Frontline was NOT doing anything.

I use a natural spray. My dog is 11 and has never had fleas or ticks. The vet recommended stuff is just terrible. I'm not taking a chance on my dogs health or my children's health(touching the dog).
