Transitioning from rock n play to crib HELP!
DS is just about 4 months old and is still in the rock n play in our room. I tried putting him in the crib for the night and he woke up every 2 hours, almost to the minute. By 5:30am I was exhausted and put him back in the rock n play and he slept for 4 hrs straight!!
But I NEEED him in his crib....any advice from other mommies who made this transition fairly easy?? Thank you!!!!!!

Transitioning from rock n play to crib HELP!
With dd I transitioned her from the rnp to a portacrib in my room at 4 months. ds is almost 5 months and I am starting the transition tonight to the portacrib in my room. I have his mattress elevated so he's still on an incline. we shall see how the night goes. dd transitioned this way really easily.

Try putting a towel under the mattress to elevate it this may help since the rnp isn't flat Good luck

We did this but with a box. We thought it would be an issue but it wasn't. I removed the box after a week. Naps in the crib took another month. We moved them at 3.5 mo.

Transitioning from rock n play to crib HELP!
I'm afraid to buy a Rock n Play for this reason. One of my friends had the same issue. At the same time I remember trying to get DD sleep in the bassinet portion of the pack and play and she hated it.
I'm not sure if I should get a bassinet or just a crib and start the crib from day 1.

Transitioning from rock n play to crib HELP!
I transitioned her to the bassinet portion of the pack n play with a crib wedge which i bought at buy buy baby. I figured i didnt want to hit her with the double wammy of having lots of room to roll which she wasnt used to, sleeping a bit flatter even with the wedge the incline is not as deep as a rnp and not being in our bedroom anymore. So i put her in bassinet for about 2 weeks. 1st night- up every 3 hours 2nd night- up every 3 hours 3rd night - up every 4 hours 4th night- up once so about 5 hours apart 5th night- sttn and no problems after that
Transitioned to crib without any issues sttn since day one.
Thr thing is you have to commit to it and accept that initally it will be tough with them getting up more often but it will get better if you stick with it.

I didn't have a RNP with DD, we had a family cradle and at 8 weeks she was in the crib, no problem! This time around, with how crazy busy we were around the time of DS birth, his room wasn't ready at 8 weeks so we ended up putting him in the RNP. Kind of wishing I didn't

Transitioning from rock n play to crib HELP!
we just did it cold turkey on a weekend where we didn't have much to do and by the 2nd -3rd night all was good. You just have to do it and not go back...we quit a few times and in the end the cold turkey method worked best.

Transitioning from rock n play to crib HELP!
I transitioned ds to the portacrib last night in our room and he did well. I elevated the head to his mattress and put him in a sleep sack. He slept about 8 hours instead of his normal 10/11 and woke up once but just looked around for a few and went to sleep. I do have a projector that hooks onto the crib, plays music and projects an image onto the ceiling. that's how he fell asleep.

Re: Transitioning from rock n play to crib HELP!
Why don't you try putting him in the crib during the day, even if he is wide awake so he can use to it and the smell of it. DD sleeps in a cradle in our room and takes at least one nap during the day in her crib in her room. There was a time when all she would sleep well in was her glider swing. We now only let her sleep in the glider during the day.
Is there a mobile in the crib? My DD loves looking at hers when she is in the crib. Maybe try that.
HTH
Also forgot to mention...she has a turtle that lights up the ceiling with the constellations. That seems to help her fall asleep no matter where she is.

Re: Transitioning from rock n play to crib HELP!
DS slept in the RNP at night and the swing during the day.
I would have him try to nap in the bassinet of the pack and play and he would wake up within 10 minutes of me putting him in.
We started by putting the pack and play in our room. he woke up alot the first 2 nights, then after that was really good sleeping in it at night. we did that for a week, went to florida for a week, he slept in it there too. When we got home we did 2 more nights of that, then did the crib.
He was waking up at 230/330 crying... we would go running in every few minute for the binky, the end up moving him to RNP. As the last 3 weeks went on he has gone longer and longer until he starts complaining. Sometimes goes the whole night and wakes at 630 which is in the normal wake up time range. about 1-2 times a week we might put him in RNP if he won't calm down.
If he still slept in RNP every night i swear he would sleep 12 hours straight! but that is not an option!

Transitioning from rock n play to crib HELP!
We started out by moving the RnP in her room so she would get used to being in her own room. At 4 months we put her in her crib and did it cold turkey. We also added the wedge under her mattress. She slept better than I did the first night!

we have a RNP but it was never used for night time sleep...just naptime and we didnt start using it until DD was about a month old.. im so glad we have it bc we are able to rock her to sleep while watching tv and stuff plus its so portable its great. we had dd sleep in a bassinet in our room until 6 weeks and then we moved her to the crib with no problems at all.
