Neupogen Questions
Hi, I haven't posted in a while, have been overwhelmed after multiple losses. Was seeing Kofinas, then did two IUI's. saw Dr. B in early May and my testing just came back.
He is recommending Neupogen, and we are strongly considering IVF to speed the process along. We lost our house in the hurricane,my mother in law died last month, and my mom was diagnosed with cancer last week. We just want to get things back together and get pregnant.
So, here are some questions I have about Neupogen: 1. Anyone have any luck getting it covered by Aetna? They are using an immunological code for diagnosis. 2. Anyone do extensive research on side effects and risks of using Neupogen? I am concerned about the long term effects for me and a baby. 3. Anyone have extra or leftovers to donate? I have no IVF coverage. I know there are issues with scammers. A least one person on this board, Gina (gina409) knows me in real life and can vouch for me.
Also, do you think I will be on Lovenox if doing IVf? Ihave a lot left over from my IUIs.
Finally, anyone have a sense of out of network med costs per month if doing IVF with Dr. B? And any sense of his success rates with IVF?

Re: Neupogen Questions
I can only answer some of those questions because I'm guessing you're talking about using neupogen as an injection and I only used it as a uterine wash. If you were using lovenox for IUIs you will be using it for IVF as well. It's likely you will be on it your entire pregnancy even.
I don't have any neupogen to donate, unfortunately. As far as Dr.B's success rates, he has success with so many on this board. The out of network costs will depend on your insurance.
Good luck You're in good hands!

LOVE LOVE LOVE Dr.Tortoiriello- I'm actually a fan of both doctors. I was with Dr.B for almost 3 years and loved him so much it was hard to switch. However... when I eventually did switch. Dr.T is the one who got me pregnant with my who is due in less than 10 weeks. So, my love is split between them for various reasons . If you want to see Dr.T for a consult, CALL NOW because it can take MONTHS to get in to see him! (worth the wait though)

Gina, I literally don't know how I could have gotten this far without your support, and I am definitely going to be leaning on you going forward! Lots of big decisions.

Re: Neupogen Questions
I only consulted with Dr.B but did not wind up using him. So many women have had success with him so It sounds like you are in very good hands!!!
As for oop, we paid for our ivf cycle and meds and are about to do it again for #2. I respond very well to low doses of meds (history of hyperstim) but b/c I never want to be without a med when I need it we usually over order a bit b/c you really don't know exactly how much of the stims yiu will need. However, as long as the med was not opened and still completely sealed Kraupners took it back. It was very helpful and I was able to get back a decent refund. Just something I wanted to share.
Wishing you lots of luck going forward!

Re: Neupogen Questions
Hello I clearly don't post often and read only occasionally but I'm in the 2ww so here I am:) I also have Aetna and am a patient of Dr B. Aetna paid for two months of neupogen (did medicated cycle and 2 iui) then they pushed it through specialty care pharmacy and they began denying coverage. I can't say how well it works yet but I'm hopeful. I had a successful pregnancy with Dr B in 2011 and was on prednisone back then to prevent mc (I had two prior losses) My son is 21 months now and I believe he may not be here had I not trusted in Dr B My Aetna plan covers two attempts at Ivf I am not sure about dr Bs success rates. Hope this is somewhat helpful. Good luck:)

Neupogen Questions
i cant answer any of your questions but i wanted to vouch for Dr. B. i did many cycles with him and got pregnant twice but it wasn't until my first and only IVF that i got my sticky bean. shes two now. i didnt do neupogen (im not even sure he was using it too often in 2010 when i cycled) but i did do a combo of lovenox, intralipids, dexamethasone, baby aspirin among the "regular" IVF drugs in order to get an stay pregnant. it was a pretty textbook IVF cycle - if you want you can read the details here
also i dont think the meds are technically out of network. there usually is no in or out of network for prescription coverage. you would have to check with your individual plan to see what's covered as a whole - if you were already doing injectible IUIs its just like that on steroids.

Re: Neupogen Questions
I've used neupogen on two cycles. You would only us it max to 12 wks. So it is not long term and you should be fine. Its an easy subQ shot once a day. I felt very tired the first cycle I used it but the 2nd cycle I didn't feel anything and I was on a higher dose.

Re: Neupogen Questions
I used Neupogen with my FET that resulted in my (now 8.5 mos old). I don't think you will find any major studies following the long term effects of using the Neupogen, unfortunately. The way Dr. B uses it is rather rare. Good luck!

Neupogen Questions
My only side effect is muscle/back spasms which lessen after taking neupogen a while.
