Might get flamed but...why do people post pics of their kids or family members in the ER?
Why do people post multiple pictures of their sick kids or family members while they are in the ER or other hospital settings? It seems weird to me. Is it to make the kids smile? I always find it a weird pic to see

Sympathy? 
I know when DD2 was hospitalized, I posted a picture here of her in her hospital gown. I was new to FB at the time, but probably wood have posted there too because she looked so darn cute!
However, if someone tried to post a picture taken of ME while hospitalized, that would be the last picture they'd ever be posting!

I agree. I see pics of kids hospitalized with nebulizers. I don't get the point either.

I posted a pic of my DS on fb after he fell at school and didnt need stitches but got his cut glued shut.
He looked so sad in the pic it was beyond adorable.
I never even thought of it as anything but a cute picture. But he was fine, I wouldnt post with him with the nebulizer and such!

I posted pics of my son when he was in the ER and after he was sedated for an endoscopy.. My friends and family wanted to be kept posted and putting it on FB is so much easier then sending emails or what not... Not one person had an issue with it... I would never post a picture of him if he was crying or if there was anything gross... IMO there isn't anything wrong with it..

I think it's a little weird. I took a few pics of DS with his nebulizer because as horrible as it is, I want to remember it and show him what he put us through! I haven't posted them on FB and wouldn't. One of my FB friends posts pictures of her son when he's sick all the time - with a rash, cuts, fevers, etc.

symathy. sometimes I think it's unfair to the kids. when they look back won't they wonder why there wasn't something that their folks were more proud of?

I don't see anything wrong with it I take pictures of everything ESP when it comes to my babies, it's like documenting their lives
When they had chicken pox I put pictures up not for sympathy just because they looked so cute all spotty and calamine lotioned up
I think it depends the person and how they normally act people who know me know I post pics of all diff things so I don't feel it's weird

I too, like the above PP, take a million pictures of DS. When we wound up at the ER in NJ on our way back from Great Adventure was no exception. My son looked so sad and yet so cute and he was being so brave. I believe my caption was "DS wants a Great Adventure Do Over." It was part sharing info with family which would have taken 9 million texts or phone calls and part sympathy because DS wasnt feeling well. I dont see anything wrong with posting pictures of your sick child and having people wish they feel better

I would never. My DD burned her face very bad (it has since healed almost 100%) but when we had people come to the hospital I said no pictures. DH took some pics (I have no idea why) but would never post them. I did not need sympathy or attention - all I cared about was my DD and her pain.

I have when DC was in the ER for stitches. And no, it was not for sympathy or attention. My FB friends are all close friends and family and I use FB to update on daily happenings, that was a daily happening. Plus, DC was so brave and I wrote something about how I was so proud of how brave DC was being.
Honestly, some people need to step away from FB if things like this get them so angered and hostile.

I took pictures of my DS when he was in the ER getting stitches in his eyebrow and also when he went in for his tonsilectomy.
It has absolutely nothing to do with needing attention. It's a way to keep those close to us informed of what's going on without having to make a million phone calls. I have only posted pictures of my DS smiling...it's not like I"m taking pictures of him screaming in pain while I ignore him to show the world.
Honestly, I don't see anything wrong with it.

What I don't get is when adults "check in" at the ER of the local hospital.
Followed by a million comments- OMG are you ok? What's wrong? What happened? Everything ok?
And no reply from the original person.
To me- that feels like attention seeking.
And secondly, any time I have been sick enough to be an ER, the LAST thing on my mind has been- HEY let me check in here on Facebook.
I was more concerned with getting treatment, finding out what was wrong, etc.

Thanks! Scariest moment ever, and it wasn't just a regular hot dog, it was one of those HUGE ones from 7-11. Granted he is 14, but I still slice my kids' hot dogs down the middle. Needless to say, dad won't be stopping to buy him a hot dog, or even feeding him a hot dog ever again!

Oh how scary!
ANd like I said- I feel like with kids- it's different.
I don't know why but I can't stand adults who look for attention and sympathy.
It's different if you are posting about your child IMO

Sorry, but your response is actually more pathetic! I don't think it's a "pathetic display of attention-seeking"! I would never post a pic of my seriously injured child God Forbid, but recently, my 7 month old was in the hospital for a few days with a uti and was as happy as anything and obviously had no idea where we were, and I saw it as an opportunity to let everyone know how happy and good she was...I don't care about anyone else's "attention" when it comes to my kids!!!
And a side note..everyone I have on my FB page is either a family member or very close friend!

IDK, why do people post pics of their kid naked and pooping on the potty?
Why can't you just post a status that your kid is in the er for whatever reason. I really don't care one way or the other but why is a pic better than just a status?

I agree...
It has nothing to do with sympathy nor is it a pathetic display of attention seeking... It is part of your childs life.... You take pictures of everything else from labor to childbirth, to first tooth, to first potty...If you don't like it, ignore it or block it.
