Clothing donation drop boxes
We've been going through old clothes and have a ton of full garbage bags to donate. I see the drop off bins all the time but of course don't remember where. I'm in the Old Bethpage, Plainview, Farmingdale area. Can anyone think of a local drop off bin? Is there a website that lists them? I couldn't seem to find one.
Thanks in advance for any help!!

Clothing donation drop boxes
Just so you know, the contents from the bins are sold directly to thrift store owners in the area, so the items don't actually go to people that need them. Not sure if that makes a difference to you, but most people aren't aware of that. If you want your stuff to go directly to people that need it, Pronto in Bayshore/Deer Park area takes donations. They let people in need come and "shop" and pick out a certain number of free items each month.

Clothing donation drop boxes
I just donated 6 giant garbage bags of clothes and shoes to the Vietnam Vets of America. They picked up from my house and left a receipt. 631-582-0242

Re: Clothing donation drop boxes
I always do a charity pick-up. It's really easy to schedule it online for some organizations. Just leave the bags at your doorstep. I just did the Lupus foundation and Veterans association. It's tax deductible.
I avoid the "charity" bins because I'm pretty sure they don't all go to charity,

Re: Clothing donation drop boxes
Drop them in a st. Vincent's de paul box. They come everyday except Sunday to pick them up. All the clothes are sorted through and given to needy families. You can call them and ask where the nearest box is located they are all over L.I.

I've done this.
I also give stuff to people who are directly affiliated with a church.
Especially with baby/kid stuff because I know this way, it will go directly to people in need.
I don't know if it was on here or on the news, but I remember seeing that a lot of people use the bins to turn them into rags and other things and not to help people in need.
