Question for vegetarians
Having some people over for a bbq on Sunday. One person is a vegetarian (but I know she eats seafood). I was planning on making kebobs - some chicken w/veggies and others shrimp w/veggies (I know she eats shrimp). But is it a problem to bbq the shrimp ones on the same bbq with the chicken (and possibly burgers, hot dogs etc) If not ok, what do I do to avoid a problem?

Re: Question for vegetarians
I'm a longtime vegetarian (20 years - no meat, poultry, or seafood) and when it comes to BBQs, I personally feel like this:
- Fire kills all
and
- We never know how food is cooked in a restaurant kitchen.
I don't mind if my vegetarian stuff is cooked near meat on a grill. I do appreciate it when friends designate a small spot for my stuff, but it's not necessary at all.
If you wanted to leave a part of the top rack as a designated veggie spot, that's nice to do. But, I mean...if someone eats seafood then they can't really get too grossed out by other meats.

Re: Question for vegetarians
if she eats shrimp then i dont think its a problem to cook it near the chicken. its not like its sitting in the same pot roasting in the juices, it's a bbq grill. but everyone is different. it wouldnt bother me but it would bother some of my other vegetarian friends.

Re: Question for vegetarians
My BIL's girlfriend is a vegetarian and I know she would prefer if things were not cooked on the same area on the grill. A good way could be to do something you can cook in foil (because the foil will be clean and uncontaminated). Keep in mind you'll want to use different utensils (tongs and things) as well.
