pricked my finger while cutting raw chicken
Hi all,
I have been having a bad few days and to top it off I pricked my finger with the tip of the knife while cutting raw chicken. (I/ve recently had tetanus shot so I do not need to worry about that at least)
While I was cutting the chicken, I pricked my finger and didnt see blood or anything of concern so I I continued cutting the chicken and when I was finished I washed my hands thouroughly with soap and water. Then I saw the tiny prick... (keep in mind chicken gook was all over my hand where the prick was)
My major worry right now is - can I contract listeriosis this way? I read online and all i could find is that listeriosis is mostly caused by consumption of contaminated food. My concern is MOSTLY caused....what are the other causes? I called my OBGYN and no one knows and I was not satisfied with what the nurse said - she wasnt sure.
So now I am sick to my stomach because I am afraid that listeriosis can enter my blood stream this way and spread to the fetus.
Any advice will be helpful because I am so scared right now.

I accidentally ATE undercooked chicken and didn't get sick at all. You're fine.

Thank you! I am very concerned because the only way listeria can get to the fetus is if it passes the intestine and enters the blood stream, in which from there, enter the placenta. With this "prick" I feel it can enter the blood stream directly. I am so upset... But thanks for your advice.
My husband is so sick of all my anxieties and fears that he doesn't want to hear about this. I don't know who else to seek advice from. Thank you!

STOP worrying! Worrying is so bad for the baby. I don't even think you can get listeria from raw chicken. You are fine!
