Atlantis, Bahamas
So it looks like we will be booking our Atlantis trip for Nov soon! I have never been. I will be going with DH and 2 small kids. Which hotel is best for kids? What are some must do family activities? Which restaurants should we try? Any info would be helpful! Thanks!

Re: Atlantis, Bahamas
We went last may and my kids had a fabulous time! It unfortunately rained all but one day of our trip but we still went to the pools to the beach and on the lazy river ride. The kids loved walking around looking at all the sea life. We swam with the dolphins and with a seal and that was my kids favorite part. The restaurants we went to were all good and very good with our kids. Not sure what type of food you are looking for but our favorites were the Bahamian club Mesa grill and the Seafire grill ( I can't remember the name) in the marina. There is a deli I. The marina too we went for lunch almost everyday they had grilled cheese fries and pickles for my kids!

Re: Atlantis, Bahamas
I think Royal Towers may be your best bet. We were going back and forth between Royal Towers and the Cove and ultimately booked the Cove. We have spent a lot of time in the main towers previously and we liked the idea of having the cove/reef guests only pool and beach.
On our list of to do's is the aquarium, dolphin and little squirts encounter.
Really keeping our fingers crossed that we have good weather when we go in November. I've heard that it is really hit or miss then.

Re: Atlantis, Bahamas
We went in July with a 5 yr old and an 8 month old. My 5 yo was able to enjoy the waterpark/pools in the Royal Tower we stayed in the Coral Towers.
Resturants we enjoyed...Mesa Grill, Bahamian Club, the Italian resturant (I forgot the name)
Overall we had a great time

I've been to atlantis twice before I had kids. We ate at all the restaurants at the market area and most of the restaurants at the main hotel area. I thought nobu was great but don't recall anything special about the other restaurants.
I know we will definitely eat at the restaurant by the aquarium, nobu and the cove restaurants. We will probably do a lot of casual eateries like johnny rockets and the buffets. we don't do much fine dining with our 2 and 4yo. The 2yo can't sit at a restaurant more than 30 min without getting restless.

Re: Atlantis, Bahamas
We've only been once, so I can only comment on the Reef, which is where we stayed.
the Reef is great for kids bc it has a kitchenette, with a toaster, plates, glasses, sliverware, microwave oven, fridge. It was great bc my kids are very picky eaters, so didn't want to waste a ton of money on having every single meal at a restaurant.
We were able to keep milk/beer/yogurtwater, etc and other snacks for the kids, which was really nice.
We ate at Carmines (Italian) and Virgils (BBQ). both were great but portions are family style so it's difficult to order if it is just the 2 of you and the 2 kids.
we ended up ordering 2 dishes and an app, which was probably enough to serve 6-8 adults, so we took leftovers for the next day.
Nobu and Mesa Grill are the higher end restaurants we went to and they will only seat kids before 6PM. Both were delish.
We ate a lot by the food places right next to the Reef/Cove pools and they were pretty good for standard poolside fare (fries/burgers/chic nuggets)

Re: Atlantis, Bahamas
I just went in July. Stayed at Royal Towers. 3 kids ages 8, almost 6 and 2. We had a nice time. I liked the cental location of Royal Towers and being close to the water park area where we spent at least half the day. We'd do morning water park, afternoon beach and late afternoon exploring (new activities, aquarium, etc). Dinner at 6/630 (you have to do dinner early at good restaurants with kids).
Our fave restaurants were Mesa Grill, Casa D'Angelo, and Seafire. really good food!! And fine kids menus!
Didn't use many of kids activities...we never use kids club on vacation - just like spending the time with our kids and having family time. DD was too young and DS was a couple weeks shy of 6 and he would have had to done the 3 to 5 club - which wouldn't be right. He's a big kid use to being with bigger kids. What also stunk if he just missed the water slide heights by 1/2-1/4 of an inch. (He makes 48 inches at amusement parks bc he has shoes on). They are tight with the requirement. It was disappointing to him. 2 yr old was a lot of work but she loved it. I'd go back but wait until she is much older.
kids did lots of snorkeling and really enjoyed the fish everywhere. My almost 6 year old is so into marine life so it was great for him. He was eating it all up.

You can bring kids for reservations before 6PM.
It was probably the same price as the Mesa Grill in NY.
so, around $40-50/entree . . .
I think for me, DH, and DS (ordered a chicken skewer and juice), we spent $250

Did you have to make reservations before you got to the hotel?
We never made reservations before but we didn't have kids. I probably didn't mind putting my name down and walking around a bit. Total different ball game with young kids.

Some restaurants were 6 and some 630 with kids 6 and under...can't remember what Mesa Grill was. All the nice restaurants had great kids menu's. We made all our reservations before going down (we were on meal plan). They have a timeframe you do it before - like 30 days or 60 days - not sure which. We wanted to get our ideal times and it was a high capacity week. I did hear them tell people on the phone when were online - that they had no availability for the night. SO I would in advance - you can cancel - I think 24 hr notice.

We made reservations for Nobu and Mesa Grill before we got to the hotel, but honestly, both were pretty empty when we were eating.
I'm sure you could have walked in and been sat relatively soon. That's what we did all the other nights and never waited more than 15 minutes.
But, it would probably depend on when you were going and how busy the resort was.
It doesn't hurt to make the reservations and then cancel if you change your mind.
