PPD/Anxiety Support Reccomendations
I took medication for Anxiety and Depression prior to getting pregnant with DS. I successfully got off both meds and went thru the pregnancy with no problems. DS was born April 2012. About 6 weeks after he was born I experienced terrible Postpartum Depression/Anxiety/OCD. I went back on meds plus something for the OCD (this was more obsessive scary "what if" thoughts, not checking on the baby, did I lock the door thoughts. I was so scared I went back to my dr and he put me back on medication and gave me an additional med for the OCD. Now I am 5 weeks pregnant with #2 and dr is getting me off the meds.- I figured since I had no issues the first time I would be ok this time but the OCD thoughts came back over the weekend and I am so scared. I feel like I am experiencing the postpartum stuff all over again, but I am pregnant, not postpartum. I am scared to go back on meds while pregnant and scared if I don't. I plan to call my Dr today see what he says to do. Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else. Also has anyone taken Effexor or Luvox while pregnant- these fall into category "C". Also if anyone can recommend a therapist or a support group that helped them. Great Neck/Manhasset area. TIA!!

I'm a therapist in the area - www.joannastolove.com. The only issue is that I don't accept insurance. I would be happy to help you find someone if you want to use insurance - just send me a message.

Re: PPD/Anxiety Support Reccomendations
I was on Effexor before each pregnancy- went off of it for all three babies. I did not feel safe taking while pregnant
Hadd PPD/OCD very badly after all three and the Effexor worked. I did not BF while on the Effexor- didn't feel it was safe.
Give your pregnancy hormones a chance to rise - I was told they do counteract the OCD thoughts.
FM if you want- I've been through this three times!
