Toddler NEW Bedtime issue

New Bedtime Issue

My son was 2 in April and has always been an excellent sleeper and never even gave us problems with going into the crib, etc.

Now for the past few nights when we put him in the crib, he cries and literally SCREAMS and even made himself throw up. (that’s how he gets when he becomes hysterical like that – he is not that cranky of a kid usually)

He wants to lay on the couch until he’s either asleep or 99% out and then I put him in.

Side notes: He was off all summer with my teacher husband and so his normal day care type of a schedule was off. Also for a few weeks he has been giving up his nap.

He starts school again Monday so I’m thinking (hoping) once he gets back in the routine he will be back to his normal self. But in the meantime, should I be letting this happen or what? I have no problem whatsoever with letting him CIO but I don’t want to have to clean up vomit every night (which is what will happen once he gets that way)….hmmmm….any suggestions?

My older son did this exact same thing at almost the exact same age. It was horrible and absolutely broke my heart Like your son, he was always a great sleeper, had no issues going in his crib or anything. It turned out, after a month or so of this, we realized he was ready for a big boy bed. We decided to try it on a whim, when we were feeling out of options. We converted his crib to a toddler bed and that first night, he was back to his old self and hasn't had any issues since!

how long did it go on for you guys? What other options did you consider?

I was thinking the toddler bed thing too but he hasn't even started trying to climb out so I don't know...
