Genetic Testing
At my last OB appt, my doctor was telling me about a blood test that can detect genetic abnormalities in the fetus (instead of having an amnio). Has anyone had this done? Is it covered by insurance?

Genetic Testing
Maternit21? I had it done... it's quick (my results were in after 1 wk) and it's 99.9% accurate.

Re: Genetic Testing
Yes I just got it done. It starts with a V but for the life of me I cannot think of it.
They dont have to do the amnio and its 99.9% as good as the others plus they can tell you the sex of the baby.

Yes, I had the materniti21. I don think it was covered by my insurance but I had called ahead and they told me my cost wouldn't be more than $225. That's what I paid.

Didn't plan on having it done but after a sono at 22 weeks it was suggested. It can take up to 10 days for results but we got ours in a week. The procedure itself is simple. It's the waiting that's the hard part. It was coveted by our insurance.

Genetic Testing
Maternit21 only tests for trisomy 21, 13 and 18 and looks at the number of copies of the x and Y chromosomes. It is a screening test where amino is a diagnostic test that looks for numerous genetic diseases- any chance it is a new test?

Re: Genetic Testing
How about the Harmony Blood test??? It tests for abnormalities as well and is supposed to be 99.9% accurate.
