hi ladies - im a regular poster in hiding

im pretty certain i went through (am currently going through) a miscarriage - and im just wondering what the next steps are.

i have to go for bloodwork today to confirm that the numbers arent increasing as they should. but assuming that is the case, do i have to continue to go for bloodwork? do i have to go for a sonogram to confirm that everything is has passed? how soon can you start ttc again?

just trying to wrap my head around all this
thanks

Depending on how far along you were/are, the answers to your questions will vary. You will continue to go for bloodwork until your beta's get down to 0 (or under 10 depending on your doctor). If you weren't very far along (I was almost 7 weeks and 5 weeks) you won't likely have to go for a sonogram, they'll likely just let you pass everything on your own. Again, depending on how far along you were, and your doctor, your answer to the TTC might change, but in general, once your beta's reach 0, you should wait for 1 period (one FULL cycle) then you can start again - some doctors will say to wait 3 FULL cycles, but that's up to you.

Again, it all depends on how far along you are, if you were farther along there are more issues to deal with - do you need a D&C, etc. It really sucks, but if what you're experiencing is spotting/bleeding wait until you get the bw back, it might not be what you're thinking. Good luck getting through it, we've all been there on this board, so ask questions and we'll answer as best we can.

Re: miscarraige

first off, i'm so sorry Chat Icon

second, i read your original post from a few days ago. i had a similar experience with bleeding and then getting a +hpt. my betas rose and fell. it was ectopic. my guess is they will probably do a couple of more blood tests to confirm the numbers are going down.

i think with a natural m/c you are suppose to wait for your beta to be negative before trying again but every dr. may be different.

My doctor had me go in for betas to make sure they were going down. He also did a sono. As long as your betas are going down you should be OK Chat Icon

Re: miscarraige

thanks everyone

i have no idea how far along i am/was
i am bf-ing DC1 and havent had a period yet (werent ttc but was not going to prevent it once i got my period)

the bleeding i had 2 weeks ago i assumed was my first period returning. it was not bright red, there were no clots, i had no cramps but it lasted about 5 days (not heavy bleeding any of the days). i was shocked when i took the hpt and the dr had me come in for bloodwork right away so they can determine how far along i was

my beta was high 600s but my progesterone was under 2!!! the nurse said it seemed like an odd balance of numbers (my beta should have been lower for my progesterone to be so low). and i know from google that progesterone that low is terrible, as in no hope terrible.
im paranoid that its ectopic so i dont know if i should insist on coming in for an ultrasound even if my number is dropping or just leave it be if they dont mention it. because its all unknown im so worried.
DH says not to give up hope but a progesterone that low is just not good

I would wait and see what your doctor says and does. Because of where you are with the breastfeeding and everything, you don't know how it's going to affect your body... And I HATE to say this because I am by far one of the worst when it comes to it, but stop reading things online, it's just going to drive you crazy.
