C Section disability period

I always thought for a c/s it was 8 weeks. But I received papers from my OB today that said vaginal and c/s were both 6 weeks. Is this true?

I think it depends on what your ob writes. Could you ask them to write 8 weeks?

It depends on what your employer's plan says - mine is now 6 weeks for vaginal or c-section. When I had DS in 2009, it was 6 weeks for vaginal, 8 weeks for c-section (same company).

FMLA is 12 wks, but that is a different question.

C/S in NYS is usually 8, or as long as dr. says you need (so it could be longer). If you are talking about a private policy, you need to look at the particular plan documents.

Depends upon your co. They just bumped mine from 12 to 16w. I thought you were asking for disability only so the answer i just received was 8 weeks ( which are also covered by Fmla)

Yes, or if your employer dictates they allow 8 weeks. Mine said 6 vag, 8 cs. The ins co mine is through originally tried to cut me off but when I told them my employee handbook says 8 they checked and I got another 2 weeks.
