Copays for each visit?

Hi ladies,

Can anyone tell me if you pay a separate copay each time you go to the office for an ivf cycle? I can't remember from my last time a few years ago whether it was a copay each time I saw a Dr or if I had to pay a copay for bloodwork too.

Also, do all the centers require a separate copay for each visit when insurance covers IVF? Maybe it's just a North Shore policy.

Thanks!

Copays for each visit?

I pay a copay every time I walk into RSNY no matter what I'm there for.

Copays for each visit?

I think it really depends on your insurance - whether it's a copay or coinsurance (% of the fee) type of plan... and depending on what you are there for - some plans don't charge you a copay for diagnostic testing, some do.

ETA: Keep an eye on your EOB (Explanation of Benefits) that you receive from your insurance at home - you'd be surprised how often you pay your copay but shouldn't have and the office doesn't automatically pass it back to you as a credit - especially if they don't do their own billing. If they have an outside company doing their billing it could mean major delays in the process AND you may never see that money back unless YOU request it. Just my experience from the business....

If anyone ever has any issues with their insurance coverage, I am available to answer any questions to the best of my abilities!

It depends on insurance. Because RS of NY is a center of excellence practice, my insurance doesn't charge me any copays until I get pregnant.

Re: Copays for each visit?

With Oxford (hate this insurance)
I do not have a co-pay as long as Im in a Medicated Cycle and doing IUI. You go into "Global" Whatever that means.

I haven't had a co-pay with any Medicated IUIs. If it's unmedicated, or if your IUI is cancelled, I then fall out of "Global" I am then billed by RSNY for the back co-pays @ $50 each. That's always fun. "We have to cancel your cycle and here's a bill for $300"

Wonderful

Thanks ladies! I should probably call my insurance and ask, but my specialist copay is now $50 Chat Icon Chat Icon and I hate to think of how much that is going to cost me over the course of an IVF cycle.

I went to Cornell and only paid upfront one huge amount of around $9,000. This covered everything except hospital and anesthesia fees for the ER. I didn't have co-pays for monitoring throughout my cycle.

Copays for each visit?

I guess it depends on your insurance. I have oxf/uhc and I go to RSofNY. I do not pay a copay even though on my card it says $50 copay for specialists.

I have GHI and I pretty much pay $30 each time, whether it was a consult, sono and blood, iui, or just blood.

It's bc you are having medicated IUIs. I have the same thing. You go into "Global" during that time and have 0 copays.

Copays for each visit?

I paid oop and it was considered a "global fee" so the upfront cost included everything when doing ivf. So I did not pay a copay. I did pay however when I got monitored or DH went in for a SA sample each time.
