Issue with Nursery School - PLEASE DONT QUOTE
I will try to keep this brief but I could really use somne advice.....
DD started Nursery School in September @ the church I have attended since I wa a child. We had some issues with the school and we decided to pull her out. It's a long story as to why we pulled her but, to make a long story short, the final straw was when teacher/aide did something that involved leaving my daughter unsupervised for an extended period of time with feces all over herself while hysterically crying and half naked.
I spoke to the principal about this and she told me that she would speak to the teacher and get back to me with an explaination. That was over 2 weeks ago and I am still waiting for a response from the principal!!!
So.... here's my question..... Who do I complain to? I have written a letter of complaint that I am going to send to the priest and church board president. Should I also complain to the Archdiocese and the Archdiocese's Dep't of Education? I am very upset about the way my daughter was treated and also the way in which the school never addressed this issue. I don't know if bringing it to the attention of the church officials will do anything. So, should I go to the Archdiocese right now or wait for the church to respond? The incident happened 2 weeks ago.

I would complain to the priest of the church about the incident and advising him that you are also contacting the Archdiocese's Dep't of Education etc.
The Monsignor at DS's catholic school - he is also in Nursery, is very involved in the school and makes sure that things are handled properly and efficently. He would not tolerate the lack of response from the principal.
I'm sorry your DD had to experiece this - my hear sank just reading your short explanation.

I'm shocked that the principal hasn't gotten back to you yet. I would probably complain to anyone & everyone who'd listen. And my heart goes out to your little girl. I'm so sorry she had to go through that!

Re: Issue with Nursery School - PLEASE DONT QUOTE
you def need to contact the pastor of the church, they are the ones ultimately in charge of the school not the principal, is this in the city or Nassau or Suffolk, that might determine who else higher up you should go to and you should that is so unacceptable, my dd is also in nursery and had a poop accident they sent her to the nurse still with the poop in her pants, I would rather this than what they did to your daughter good luck
eta I would go to the superintendent of the diocese also, this is really bothering me and very upsetting because if this happened to one of my dds I would be livid and not let it go

Yes! Aren't these places state regulated at all? That is completely unacceptable.

It is only under the jurisdiction of NYS if the program is longer than three hours. Then it is licensed by the Office of Children and Family Services. That's why a lot of pre-school programs are 2.5 hours.

Re: Issue with Nursery School - PLEASE DONT QUOTE
I have been thinking about this all day,
I would contact someone higher up right away, 2 weeks is way too long I think they are hoping you will forget about it since you took your dd out of the school,
also please update as to any outcomes I am very curious about who will finally get back to you and how long it takes

Re: Issue with Nursery School - PLEASE DONT QUOTE
Thanks everyone. To answer some questions..... The school is in NYC. It was a full day nursery program.
I appreciate everyone's feedback and support. I still cannot get over what happened. I am going to take this issue directly to the priest but I am also sending my letter to the State Education Dep't as well as the Archdiocese. I will keep you all posted - THANK YOU!!!
DD has not mentioned this incident but I know it has affected her. She has been very clingy ever since and she also had some short-term regression with using the bathroom shortly after it happened.
