NICU/Thanksgiving
sitting in the NICU, pumping.... anyway, they are hopeful baby ava can come home when she reaches closer to her due date (November 24). I hope we get to take her home before Thanksgiving! What do you plan to do for Thanksgiving if you have LO's?

Re: NICU/Thanksgiving
My mom has our entire family (close to 30 people some years), and that's we we do every year. My Dd was a June baby, so she was older by the time Thanksgiving came.
Hoping your DD gets to come home by then! If you can't bring her out to a large party, maybe you can go to a small get together, or even just order food and have a quiet family Thanksgiving. Nothing wrong with that!!!

Re: NICU/Thanksgiving
My DS came home a few weeks before his due date, so it's very possible she'll be home for thanksgiving!
My whole family is going to my aunts house for thanksgiving this year, she and my grandma alternate who hosts.

Re: NICU/Thanksgiving
Just let me give you insight especially if your little one gets home in time for Thanksgiving. Be extremely cautious on who you surround yourself with when she first comes home. Her immune systems will be weak. The NICU nurses told us to limit our preemie exposure bc they can become sick so easily. We were extremely cautious but our DS still caught RSV, 3 times. Very scary.

Re: NICU/Thanksgiving
Our first thanksgiving home with the twins was small. When they were discharged from the nicu we were warned not to expose them to much because their immune systems were so compromised from being premature. They were born 9/10. Discharged around columbus day and their due date was not till 11/15. We spent that christmas by ourselves also. There was someone with a cold at our families house.
I hope your little one is home soon. Stay strong Mama! The nicu is a journey like no other.

Re: NICU/Thanksgiving
My sister had a baby recently, so we are going to stay away from crowds (flu season) and get turkey take out. Maybe Boston Market.
