If you are an RN...info needed please
If you are an RN, and work at a hospital in Suffolk County...
How are the infertility benefits at your place of employment? I passed my NCLEX in August, and I am currently in the process of applying; but the benefits package is very important right now. I am particularly interested in the infertility benefits at PBMC, SBUH, St Charles, Mather, Southside, and Good Sam.
I'm thinking that changing my insurance may be my only option at this point.
If you aren't comfortable giving the info here, can you fm me please.
TIA

Re: If you are an RN...info needed please
Hi! I am an RN but in Nassau county who is employed by Catholic Heathcare Services of LI. There is essentially NO infertility coverage. I was out of pocket in the months I was a patient at RSof NY and had to be part of a global pay plan. I have just been released to my OB, as I am 9 weeks pregnant, but I will still be changing to my husbands insurance next year to avoid being oop again! Hope that helped some! Good luck!

Re: If you are an RN...info needed please
Hi, congrats on passing your NCLEX! I'm an RN and work at Mather. If your looking for awesome infertility coverage stay away from Mather, go straight to stony brook their coverage their is amazing because its a state hospital. At Mather they basically cover your testing and IUI that's it. I was actually looking to leave Mather for this reason and work at SB instead but after having my husband and I tested and speaking to my doc it doesn't seem that I would need all that advanced treatment so for now I'm staying put. But I wish I had originally applied at SB when I first became a nurse they just have so much more to offer their employees. GL!
ETA: I have a friend at St. Charles and she had told me that because their part of catholic healthcare they get no infertility coverage, she even had to pay out of pocket for her husbands SA because infertility treatment is against the beliefs. So I would stay away from st. Charles too.

I work for Catholic Health Services of LI... In finance, but same benefits.
There is no IF coverage because Catholics don't believe in using ART.
Congrats on passing your test!

Thank you for the info ladies. Anyone have info on Peconic Bay Medical Center and their insurance (BCBS through NYSNA) would be greatly appreciated too.

Re: If you are an RN...info needed please
First congrats on passing your NClex and welcome to the nursing family. I'm an RN at Stony Brook and we have the best plan out there for infertility coverage one of the reason I took the Job. Infertility treatment covered 100% except office copayment and meds covered except copay which is cheap. IVF covered in full if you use a center of excellence which is most well known infertility groups on the island. Thanks to the coverage I just had twins after 3 years of trying without fertility treatment and one cycle of IVF. Best of luck!!

Re: If you are an RN...info needed please
Congrats on passing your NCLEX!! I'm an RN at Southside and our insurance is Oxford United through NYSNA. As for infertility, Oxford gives you $5000 towards fertility Treatment. You can either choose to apply it towards medications or actual procedures. They cover 5 IUI treatments as long as you are on meds (IE: Clomid/injectibles, etc). For us, we chose to hold the $5k towards potential IVF. We have been paying OOP for clomid and trigger (not too bad) but have been holding off on injectibles due to the increase in cost. If this IUI doesn't work (we're only 4 days post IUI) we are moving to IVF which is going to end up costing us about 1/2 because we haven't touched the 5K. The major issue is once you apply it to either meds or procedure, you cannot apply any remaining money to the other choice.
Overall its not the GREATEST coverage, but I guess its better then nothing.....
GOOD LUCK!!
For those of you that work at SB, do the RNs get insurance if they are working part time? Just curious!!
