42 weeks... prodromal labor
I have been experiencing prodromal labor for about a week now. It is the most frustrating thing because it really feels like real labor.
I haven't really slept in 3 nights and I am frustrated to the point of tears. I keep getting STRONG contractions that are so painful I can't speak or move but they remain random between 8-20 min apart. Or I'll have quick contractions that are 3-5 min apart but more mild and uncomfortable but not painful. They might stop completely for 20-30 min and then they start up again.
I am getting a LOT of mucus discharge (sorry for the TMI) sometimes pink or with a little red blood in it. It comes out everytime I go to the bathroom.
Yet nothing seems to be progressing into active labor.
I feel like this baby is never going to be here! Anyone else experience anything like this??

Re: 42 weeks... prodromal labor
I experienced this with my first, and it was due to her being in a bad position (posterior). I think being on your hands and knees can help rotate them. I hope it's over for you soon!

Re: 42 weeks... prodromal labor
Im experiencing this, this time around but im only 38 weeks. But ive had my DH leave work a few times now thinking im in labor, for it to stop (he works an hour away and my labors with my first 2 were pretty fast).
Have they stripped your membranes?
Id try bouncing on those big gym balls and walk until u think u cant walk anymore. As hard as it is try and relax urself, take a bath and listen to soft music with lights dimmed.
You are almost there and that little girl will be soo worth it, but it sux when u have to deal with this bc it feels like its never ending. Labor vibes coming ur way!!!

I've had my membranes stripped 3 times- all its done was make me really uncomfortable and bring on more contractions that eventually fade. I am trying everything in the book to make it happen. I really thought yesterday was the day.

Google the miles circuit and give it a try. If your having prodromal labor because of malpostitioned baby, it should help.
I'm convinced that this helped get labor really going with my ds.

Re: 42 weeks... prodromal labor
I'm so sorry you have to deal with this pain and frustration! I've heard that a strong leg/ankle/foot massage can bring on labor. Maybe do some stretches and then go for a nice long pedicure. You may not be getting one for a while so it may be a nice treat at this point. Good luck!!!
