Rescue help - looking for a dog
My godmother's husband passed away a few years ago and her kids are older and out of the house and she is lonely.
She thinks a dog is just what the doctor ordered.
She was in a pet store and fell in love with a MaltiPoo but could not bring herself to pay the $1000 they were asking nor could she justify buying one when she is in a great position to adopt one in need.
The problem is that everytime she finds a dog she likes on Petfinder, she puts in her application or contacts the rescue and the dog is already taken so she is getting frustrated.
I want to help her!
She doesn't care if it is male or female or if it sheds as long as the hair is short (if it sheds). She wants a small/medium dog that doesn't have to be good with other animals but has to be friendly towards kids because her nephew who is 3 visits often. She likes tan or white dogs most. A puppy or a young dog is what she prefers. But most important she wants a dog who will snuggle with her all the time.
I know there are a bunch of rescue people on here. Please help me. Thanks!

Contact FurBabies Rescue in East Rockaway. They just had eight small dogs come up from the south; three are two years old, and five are five months old. DH and I adopted one last night.

Brookhaven animal shelter is having FREE adoptions until xmas. They have SO MANY dogs that need homes.

how about this one---although not in NY....im sure transport would be available to get her here!
This is her write up:
How cute is this little girl? Lacey is being fostered by one of our volunteers and is looking for a place to call home. She is currently in the Philadelphia area.
Lacey is a 1 year old spayed Cockapoo. She is utd on shots and micro-chipped. She is house and crate trained. She is 16 lbs. and a little bundle of joy. She was found as a stray and is looking for a family to adopt her. Lacey is great in the car and enjoys car rides. She loves to go for her walks and to play ball. Lacey is always a happy girl who aims to please and will be a shadow to her human, as she always follows me around. She is in foster with me. Good with kids and dogs, not sure about cats. Rescue help - looking for a dog
You could also try Little Shelter in Huntington. We got our dog from there and thought they were great! They rescue dogs from local shelters.
