Possibly preeclampsia
Im a little concerned these past few days....I'm only 24w 2d pregnant and my feet/ankles have been swelling. I can press down and it leaves an indentation. I do sit a lot with my new job and I know that isn't good for circulation. However, I'm concerned after reading (yes, yes I know I shouldn't have done that! LOL) and am now wondering if this is the beginning of pre-eclampsia. I have my 24 week dr appt on Wednesday where I have a sono and see my dr, so I'm going to bring it up then.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?? I'm hoping it's just from me not drinking enough water and sitting too long. The thought of having preeclampsia this early makes me super nervous!

Do you have a BP machine by any chance or can you go to maybe a 24 hr pharmacy that has a bp machine? Seeing any floating spots?

If you are having a lot of swelling you may want to give your doctor's office a call tonight and speack to the doctor on call. I agree with ElizaRags35 you should check your BP tonight. My OB said that swelling of the face is an early symptom of preeclampsia along with headache. Drink a lot of water and put your feet up. Also try to reduce the amount of sodium you are eating. If possible try to get up and walk around for a few minutes ever 90 minutes or so.

I don't have a machine and my husband isn't home. I have a 2 yr old sleeping upstairs. I feel fine despite the swelling, which is just in my legs and feet. Hands and face are fine. I'll call tomorrow and see if they can squeeze me in in the morning to be on the safe side.

Re: Possibly preeclampsia
I started swelling really bad at that point as well. It was just in my ankles and feet- nothing else. Turns out it was just normal pregnancy swelling and it plagued me from then until the end. I would call you doc- but don't panic yet- could just be normal swelling.

Agree. I started swelling when I was pregnant with DD VERY early on. For me, it was normal. I'd call if you are concerned, but it may be no big deal. Don't freak out yet.

Re: Possibly preeclampsia
Mine are huge and I called the dr and she said that they no longer use the swelling of the feet to determine preeclampsia - they look at blood pressure and protein in urine.

I had the same thing my ankles and feet were extremely swollen from about 24 weeks on. As long as your blood pressure and protein in your urine is normal you should be fine. My OB told me to call him if I started having severe headaches ans/or I was seeing spots or "floaters"

I agree, It's very normal to have swelling in your lower extremities, due to the excess fluid/blood flow. Continue elevating your legs, even more than you have, stay away from salt and caffeine, they will worsen the situation. Usually with Preclampsia you need elevated BP with protein in your urine. Also watch out for Blurry vision, epigastric pain, and headaches. ( sorry I'm a former L& D) let us know how you as doing

Re: Possibly preeclampsia
I had preeclampsia (when I was full term). My BP was high. The only symptom I really had was headaches, have you had any?
I agree with the others, call your doctor but don't panic.

Possibly preeclampsia
No headaches and my feet have gone down significantly today. I did call the dr and sadly never heard back from anyone ALL day! Very surprising, but I will be sure to say something to them tomorrow. Unacceptable when I'm concerned at such an early stage still.
I drank a ton of water today and tried not to sit for too long...and it was much better.
Thanks for all of the feedback on this....I always know you all are the best resource when needed! :)
