I know it stinks, but honestly I don't think they owe you anything. I know at my hair place there are signs all over the place that they are not responsible for any damage or stains to clothing from dye. Also, I don't mean to lecture you, but be careful about where you leave your bag- a stained bag is bad enough, but an empty or missing one would be worse!

I have mixed feelings about it.
On one hand, I think this is one of those "expensive lessons" and PSAs for all to be mindful of.
On the other, I am having a hard time picturing that if this is a "common area" to place stuff, how it could get ruined there.
I would definitely follow up with the owner. If it's a small business and they do not want bad press, maybe they will do the right thing.

I don't think you have any recourse. Just an expensive lesson learned. I keep my purse with me at all times when I am at the salon.

At my salon they have big bags that you can put your stuff in. They also have signs saying they are not responsible. I know aerosol hairspray gets color off of clothes you can try spraying the area and gently wiping.
