Full time worker and Pre-k
For those with both parents working how did you manage with Pre-k? my district has a lottery for 5 days 2 1.2 session but not sure if we got picked how I would work out picking them up and getting them there, I can probably swing it a few days from my mom but not all week.. any advice or suggestions?

Full time worker and Pre-k
I am quitting my job next month and while its not the full reason, it is part of the reason. The twins will hopefully get into the lottery in September and I have no one to watch them after school. Anyone know how you find out about your districts lottery? I looked on the district website but can't find any info.

Re: Full time worker and Pre-k
This is why I have to keep my son in daycare full time until kindergarten. It is an academic preschool/daycare but we really wish that we could take advantage of the UPK in our district.

Full time worker and Pre-k
My DS will be doing preK at his daycare so he will be there the full day. IMO the programs aren't any different and this way I can keep him where he is used to going and I don't have to worry about schedule

Re: Full time worker and Pre-k
We have a babysitter. There are lots of random days off, school holidays, snow days that I feel like DS is off a day a week.

Full time worker and Pre-k
We also have Pre-k 5 days 2.5 hours. DHs schedule rotates so sometimes its not even an issue. I arrange my schedule so that I can leave at 1145 pick DD up from Pre-k and brink her to day care. One day a week I finish up at 1 so I pack her lunch and she comes back to my office.
Maybe see if one of the locations has extended care?

I paid for a full day pre-k.
This. Sent her to a Montessori (it was about the same cost as daycare) and she was there from 7:30 - 6pm daily

Full time worker and Pre-k
DS will most likely stay in daycare for Pre-K but, since we may cut back to part time next year, we may try for full time UPK and then on the days we are both working, daycare will use their van to drop off/pick up.

Re: Full time worker and Pre-k
Ds will is in day care and will be through kindergarten. They have a curriculum for every age so he will have "pre-k" there.

Re: Full time worker and Pre-k
I will end up paying for full day pre-k/daycare. I probably will switch DD from her family-group daycare to a nursery/preschool setting when she is 3, and keep her in that setting for pre-K. I don't want to be at the whim of my district's lottery to determine where she goes to pre-K, as much as I'd love to take advantage of the free education. It's only 3 half days free anyhow.
