miscarriage
Hi Everyone,
I had a miscarriage on December 29th. The doctors are unsure of how far along I was (due to complications) but they estimated about 6-7 weeks. I have seen both the nurse practitioners in the practice several times, as they have been very supportive. However, a lot of the information has been frustrating because they are unanswered questions. I am given the answers "It depends on everyone's body" in regards to when the bleeding will stop and then when I will get my period. Side note: It's a cruel world that you bleed, especially for a long time, as it is just a constant reminder. Also, both practitioners told me two different things about waiting...one said to start immediately, one said wait till your next period. I know this but it would be helpful to hear from others. So I am just wanting to hear from others experiences. Feel free to FM if you feel more comfortable.
* How long did you bleed for after your miscarriage?
*When did your actual period return?
*How long did you wait before you started trying again?
Any information would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Wendi...So sorry for your loss. I had a mc at 11 weeks back in March '11... I bled (on/off) for about a month and then I got my period. We waited (3) cycles (per my doc) before trying again.

Re: miscarriage
I am so sorry for your loss. The truth is that all doctors say different things. My doctor told me to wait one cycle and that's what I did. I waited until I had one natural period, and then after that, I started trying again. I got pregnant 2 months later. I also had a D&C so my answers might be a little different to others but I posted them below.
* How long did you bleed for after your miscarriage? I spotted for one week after the D&C *When did your actual period return? My cycles are 34 days. My period came to the day on day 34. However, my next cycle was like 44 days so it was thrown off a bit. *How long did you wait before you started trying again? I waited one cycle. Then I tried - didn't get pregnant. Tried the next cycle and got pregnant. I am 30 weeks. GOOD LUCK TO YOU

I had a MC at 7 weeks, I bled heavily for only a day, but light for 2 days before and then light for 2 days after. My normal period never returned bc I didn't wait at all to TTC. I got pregnant 2 weeks after my MC. The dr suggested waiting 2 cycles only because she was worried about my mental well being before trying again, but I knew I wanted a baby and was ready.

I am so sorry for your loss!! I had a mc around the same timeframe back last May. I waited only 1 cycle (my doctor gave me NO direction - which is why I no longer see her), and ended up with a chemical in August. I took two full cycles off and back in November just started up again, using the CBEFM to track. I spotted for 1 week, bled for 4 days, then spotted another week or so, then got AF 30 days later. Everyone is going to be different with how their bodies react. I wish you luck!

Re: miscarriage
I had an ectopic..I bled for a week after surgery and per my doctors blessing, tried again when I was ready..which was one cycle after the loss. I couldn't physically try right away because I had pain from surgery). We got PG again right away.
If I had miscarried early I would try right away. I don't see a reason to wait. A few doctors in my practice said there is NO higher risk of another miscarriage than anyone else. HTH

Re: miscarriage
I'm so very sorry for your loss. Miscarriage is so hard and many don't understand unless they have been through t. I had a miscarriage in June of 2008 when I was 3 months pregnant. I had what is called a "missed miscarriage" meaning I didn't bleed, had no signs, and my body still thought I was pregnant. When I went in for my 3 month check the heartbeat had stopped and the baby stopped growing at 7 weeks. I had a D & C and bleed for about three weeks. My period came about a month and a half later. We started trying to get pregnant right away. I got pregnant in September of that same year and had a healthy baby girl 9 months later. Btw, I found out I had low progesterone and the dr put me on progesterone suppositories until I was 12 weeks pregnant with my daughter. Stay strong and keep hope.

Re: miscarriage
* How long did you bleed for after your miscarriage? I started on the 15th of the month, and was done by the end of that same month.
*When did your actual period return? It took 43 days for my period to return. That is 11 days more than a typical cycle.
*How long did you wait before you started trying again? I waited 2 cycles to start trying again, and I'm still waiting for a BFP.
my MC was due to a blighted ovum. Not sure if that makes any difference in the answers.

I'm so sorry for your loss
I had a MC at 9 weeks and bled for about 2 weeks. I got my period a little after a month of that and my Dr told me to wait 3 cycles as well so my body would be fully healed and have gone through everything it had to (I did my mc naturally)
