Canned pumpkin...what does it look like?
I opened a can and it looked like there were some dark flecks in it. Normal or not?

I've never noticed dark flecks before. I use canned pumpkin fairly often, and I think it's pretty uniformly orange.

This. If it's pumpkin pie filling, you're seeing flecks of nutmeg/cinnamon/whatever. If it's just canned pumpkin... definitely not normal.
