Eliminating Wheat?

Has anyone eliminated wheat from their diet? Have you had good success? I really want to try it & start to feel better. I have a lot of unexplained joint pain, brain fog, constant fatigue & stomach issues.

Get rid of gluten. You will feel 100% better in a week or two. The first week you may feel slightly worse. But after that though 100% better!

Eliminating Wheat?

I did, I follow paleo/primal and have never felt better! I fell off over the summer and felt so disgusting eating wheat again, I've now been one month back off wheat and feel back to normal.
Another great book to read is The Wheat Belly, that is what kick started me!

Eliminating Wheat?

I want to..I was watching Dr. Oz the other day and he said that plenty of people think they are making a good call choosing wheat but it's actually not good for you or your waistline.

The above book I read states that as well as whole grains. Thinking all your life it is good for you, and its really not.

Re: Eliminating Wheat?

I don't eat it for the most part, except for an occasional piece of bread, birthday cake.

I omit it from my diet because of the gluten, the gmo seed it is grown from and the spike in blood sugar and insulin response it causes, not to mention the addictiveness of it. My cravings are just better kept at bay with out wheat and sugar!

I second the book Wheat Belly. My husband read it and I'm 25% thru it, but its very eye opening.

It definitely sounds like cutting out wheat will help.

Even though wheat is not technically GMO, it is so crossbred and genetically messed with that it is far from natural. The best crop to grow is not at all best for our bodies.

Good luck! Hope you feel better.

For those of you who follow this type of diet- can you please lay out for me what you typically eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks? Thanks!

Eliminating Wheat?

I removed MOST (about 90%) of gluten from my diet and I feel so much better. I was experiencing "cramping" throughout my whole cycle (which I'm very aware of now because I'm TTC) and thought, hey maybe it's digestive and NOT cycle related. Well, I was surprised it wasn't a difficult switch for me to make - I eat gluten free pasta now, and since I don't eat bread it was pretty easy. I feel much MUCH better... Sporadically when with family out at dinner at an Italian restaurant I'll have regular pasta if they don't have GF, and I will feel the cramps the next day and I *think* it actually makes me feel more rundown.

Breakfast is usually a fruit & protein shake, yogurt is good, oatmeal, rices (browns or jasmine are my favorite), lots and lots of veggies! I find that 1-2 slices of bread here and there (very rarely) doesn't bother me as much as if I eat regular pasta.

We eliminated wheat, but also follow something called The BulletProof Diet. (kinda like a modified paleo) Its all about the good fat and low carbs/sugar

breakfast:
organic cage-free eggs (on the weekdays I make hardboiled eggs)
vegaterian fed bacon
sometimes with organic arugula

Chia Seeds in water with lemon

Snacks
Raw Cashews, Almonds and Brazil nuts
Guacamole and Gluten Free chips (still kinda a cheat, but once in a while its okay)
smoked salmon
Avocado

Lunch
Spinach Salad
kale Salad
Dinner left overs

Dinner
Grass Fed beef and arugula
Chicken with vegetables
Shredded Zucchini with Grassfed beef meatballs (used almond flour)
Veal or chicken francese. I use almond flour instead of reg. flour.
My husband makes a delicious broccoli, cauliflower and fennel puree that will make you forget about mash potatoes.

Desserts:
Almond flour/cashew butter honey bars
85% dark chocolate
We've also made our own Almond butter since it can get expensive. Just put them in the food processor until it turns creamy lol.

Oh and my husband just made these flax seed wraps that have a bread-like texture, so they're good for lunches

Eliminating Wheat?

I am gluten free due to a gluten intolerance and honestly I did not really feel any different within the first few months of being gluten free. I did get very sick when I "challenged" myself with gluten after a couple of months without it. It took a long time for my stomach issues to completely resolve.
I eat meat, veggies, fruit, eggs, sweet potatoes, squash, rice, quinoa and buckwheat and gluten free oats. I make a lot of paleo recipes and predominantly bake with almond and coconut flour. I bake gluten free breads at home (I like the flying apron cook book recipes best). While I have been pregnant I have been a bit lazy and have been buying Udi's whole grain bread and mighty bagels to satisfy some of my craving. I just do not have the patients to bake a lot right now.

Re: Eliminating Wheat?

I have been eating paleo/primal for a few weeks now. The last couple of days I have "cheated" and the biggest thing for me is joint pain. My knee hurts and my feet and ankles hurt when I wake up. When I was gluten free I had none of that. Also stomach issues. It was amazing how quickly I was able to F up my body eating a couple of servings of whole wheat bread. Not worth it!
