Coconut oil?
I've heard a lot of people say they use coconut oil for minor diaper rashes and a myriad of other things. With DD1, on the rare occasion she was red we would put Triple Paste on it. Otherwise, no red meant no cream, powder, etc. Considering taking a more natural approach with DD2 so wanted to find out the best place to buy, what to look for, and how/when to apply coconut oil. I picture it looking like olive oil but don't see that being convenient to keep on the changing table.

Coconut oil?
It's actually solid when it's not heated up, but melts easily (rubbing some between your hands). I buy a big jug at Costco and put some in a small tupperware with a lid that I keep on the changing table. When DD has a rash I rub some on her butt. I also melt it and use it on their whole bodies after bath (for myself, too!). I love it.

Coconut oil?
Not sure the answers to most of your questions since my LO isn't here yet but I plan on using CO. I got it from Trader Joe's and I'm obsessed!

Re: Coconut oil?
Like others have said, it is a solid. Think- Crisco. It will melt in your hands. But it is very greasy. But it smells sooooo yummy!

Re: Coconut oil?
In the winter it is solid in the jar in my cabinet. In the summer it is completely liquid, like olive oil. Both consistencies are normal.
I just recently started putting a teaspoon in DDs bath and it's been great for her skin!!

Re: Coconut oil?
Thank you all for the info! In the bath sounds great. I might try that with my daughter now. The poor thing gets such dry skin but getting her to sit still for lotion is torture these days.

Yes, my Dd has dry sensitive skin too. If the bath is warm enough, the oil should dissolve. It also rinses clean, but leaves her skin feeling super soft!

Coconut oil?
If you are using it for rashes and stuff other than cooking you should use UNREFINED cocunut oil. Use the refined for cooking and baking!

Re: Coconut oil?
It melts at 74 degrees. I use on dd. But also in the winter rub it all over myself after a shower. I use trader joes organic.
Also have a tub in kitchen that I use to cook with, especially friend rice!

Re: Coconut oil?
I use this for everything. For DS, for cooking, my hair, myself and will for Dd. It's great and any skin ailment I will put CO on it and it will get rid of it. Awesome stuff.
