IUI to IVF
This is my last IUI Cycle before we move on to IVF. I have my IVF consult date for March 10, which is already into my next cycle and I am wondering if I should call my doctor directly and see if it can get pushed up. But then a part of me wants a month to breath before moving on to IVF.
Just curious, do most women go directly from an IUI cycle to an IVF or do they take time off?
I know absolutely nothing about IVF, despite my mom being one of the first to use it when trying to give me a sibling, but as I'm an only child, it clearly didn't work for her. But then that was 1986? Does IVF follow normal month cycles?

Re: IUI to IVF
HI! Good luck on this cycle, you may not need IVF! I took a break in between cycles but you don't have to……mentally i needed one. You start your meds typically between day 2 and 5 of your cycle.

Re: IUI to IVF
this IUI works for you!!!
For my first I didn't take any time off, went right from IUI to IVF the next month. The second we took time off. If you feel like you may need to take a month to breath, I would definitely take it. It is a little overwhelming at first; a least it was for me.
Your RE will use the meds to time it just right. But you will still start on CD3ish.

IUI to IVF
I needed 6 IUIs before IVF for insurance purposes. We decided to do the 6th one without meds. Then we did IVF the following month. So I did 6 IUIS and then 2 IVFs NO BREAK. It was a little much and wouldn't recommend it. I am on a long break now and I need it.
Heres to hoping you get a BFP this month.

Re: IUI to IVF
Personally, I think a month or two between cycles is optimal. There is a school of thought that back to back cycles yield poorer results than cycles with breaks in between. My RE does not do IVF in consecutive months. I had a chemical after an IVF in September and didn't cycle again until the very end of November, which resulted in my current pregnancy.
Good luck!!

IUI to IVF
Even if you push date up, you may need to have tests done so may not matter. I can tell you, you need a MAMOgram no matter what age so try & schedule that. (at LI IVF is where I did this & made no exceptions) You will also need HSG (hystroplingogram) if you didnt have yet...not sure what else. I cant remember

Re: IUI to IVF
There is no standard. It's totally up to you. For us we went straight to Ivf after iui with injectable. That one didn't work and I took a break the next cycle before doing Ivf again.
Only you know what is right for you. It's completely understandable and normal to want to take a mental/physical/emotional break too. Ivf is very draining in all three of those categories.

Re: IUI to IVF
I think it depends on how you feel about it. It takes such a toll on you physically. Hopefully you wouldn't need to do it, good luck this cycle.

Re: IUI to IVF
We went straight from IUI to IVF as I just felt there was a momentum going that I didn't want to lose (and because I probably wasn't thinking clearly). Looking back, it would have been nice to take a break and enjoy ourselves, just the two of us, like taking a trip... but I can only say that coming from the other side. Our Dr supported us in moving right into the next cycle. Hopefully you won't need to, but it is good to discuss it with your SO now so you are on the same page. Good Luck!
