traveling with children

in 2 weeks im going on a big family vacation to the bahamas!!! and tho im thrilled ~ im anxious about traveling with a 3 yr old & 4 month old baby. Any tips?

how much formula/baby food/purified water did you bring? should i ship[ to the hotel prior to travel? buy diapers down there? prepare to pay for laundry service at the hotel?

what did you experience while traveling with your kids? what were you happy you did? what would you do differently?

any advice is welcomed.
tia

Re: traveling with children

First you should do is find out if the hotel you're staying at has laundry there, cribs/PnP's, etc. I know lots of pple ship, but I bring my own diapers and formula. I just figured around how much DS wears a day and throw in extras. I'm sure there is some convenient store close by you can get anything if necessary.
Never been to Bahamas, but go to Aruba every year and just bought a case of bottled water.
Pack swimmy diapers as well
Most likely you will be in a bathing suit all day with coverups so no need to pack heavy. I always rinsed out the bathingsuits back in the room at the end of the day.
I found packing a freezer bag easy and convenient too and leave your snacks and drinks in there all day.
My 4 and 2 year olds have been going to Aruba since they were infants. I find that as a baby they were easier. This year my 4 yr old was happy with the Ipad, movies on the Ipad and lots of coloring, crayons, etc. My 2 yr old can't sit still.
Don't forget the bjorn or anything to carry the baby to keep your hands free. When my LO was a baby I bought a cheap blow up pool and put the DS in there with some toys. Don't forget a puddle jumper or something for your 4 yr old, beach toys you can get at 5 Below or Dollar store in case it never makes it way home, nice size beach bag.
I took lots of ziplock bags too and separated everything. Ziplock diapers and wipes, ziplock extra clothes, etc in the beach bag. Lots of sunscreen, hats, etc. Have so much fun!

Re: traveling with children

Brought snacks for the plane and then bought some there. We also have a timeshare in Aruba so my DH would go food shopping and stock up for the week so we had everything available.

Put the baby in an overnight diaper for the plane ride incase you don't have time to change. Also since our flights are usually early I dressed the boys in sweats to bed and then when it was time to wake them up I just picked them up and put them in the car. I gave myself a checklist and then the night before pretty much have everything in the car.
