Former IF, seeing OB/MFM *final update*

In hiding for just a bit, just to be sure...

I am a former IF gal. No Dx, just unexplained IF with a successful birth after IVF!
DH and I weren't trying or anything, but I POAS this morning and it was BFP! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
I had some major cramping about 10 days after conception, and i almost ran to the OB one day. When AF was 6 days late this morning, I figured it was implantation pain.

I'm spoiled. I had a light-saber shoved up my hoo-ha on a weekly basis after IVF and then I was transferred to my OB/MFM at about 7 weeks. I was also high-risk for health and age.

I don't want to call and say I POAS and have them tell me, "see you in 2 months". I'm so nervous, and I want to be seen sooner. Should I bring up the pain and my past history? Should I tell them that my RE monitored me from 6wks in the past?
If anyone has gotten PG on their own after IF and you've been through this, please let me know.

I know I am spoiled in this regard and I am just trying to get my way, but I was hoping there is a way. I think my nerves from the last pregnancy after IF have kicked in.
Thanks so much for listening.

Re: Former IF, seeing OB/MFM before 8 weeks?

Congrats! Diff ob practices differ. After my first loss I switched practices and my new OB let me make my appt for anytime I wanted. I ended up making it for 7 weeks bc I wanted to feel sure I would see a heartbeat but then they let me move it up when I had spotting. They would have seen me even earlier too if i wanted and were ok with me coming in more frequently to have Sonos. Maybe a laid back practice like that would be a better fit for you. Message me if you want to know what practice that js

Congrats . I would call you ob and tell them you are pregnant. Not to scare you but my sil got prego after ivf and they said that if she started progesterone like during her ivf.she wouldn't have had a loss. It doesn't hurt too call and ask questions like that if you were low on progesterone also.

Former IF, seeing OB/MFM before 8 weeks?

Congrats!!! I saw a RE for #1, and the second time I was able to get pregnant on my own. Even though I didnt go through any IF treatments my RE still saw me until I went to my OB.

Congrats!!

You could see Dr. Kofinas in garden city, he's a mfm. I've been going since around 4 weeks.

Congrats!! Call your RE and tell them you got a positive - they will take you even though it didn't happen through them. They will do bloodwork to confirm betas and they will see you until they hand you off to ob at 8 weeks or so.

Same here. I was barely 4 weeks when they did my first sono. ETA - I ovluated late, they thought I would be 5 weeks at that point. It was too early to see anything. We saw a sac a week later, around 5.5 weeks.

I'd call the RE - they'll monitor you as they did before most likely. Most OBs hard to get in early.

Wow, thank you all so so so much for the suggestions. DH and I are hysterically giddy and reeling right now. We can't believe it.

I just got off the phone with the RE's office. They took a message for the Dr and they'll call me back to let me know if I can come in for bloodwork and monitoring. I had no idea what to do, so before I called their office I called the MFM and made an appointment for tomorrow AM just in case. I told them I had been having some pain (yes it's true I had pain last week) but it is related to something i had been going there for since my C-section. So I kinda lied but it's kinda the truth.
If the RE calls back and gives me the green light, I'll cancel the high risk OB and wait until I "graduate" Chat Icon My head is spinning but in a good way!

Yay !!! I was going to post what the others said to call your RE. At least you can have betas and prog. They may or may not do a Sono though - might want beta first. I had three betas before RE would do a Sono.

Congrats!

Re: Former IF, seeing OB/MFM before 8 weeks?

Congrats! I'd call your RE and ask to see them so you can be monitored. We conceived DS1 via b2b medivcated IUI but conceived DS2 all on our own. I saw my RE at about 4-5 weeks, after having betas/progesterone done 2-3 times at a lab with a script from the RE. I was released from the RE later at about 8-10 weeks (I was on Crinone) and then went to see my OB.

Re: Former IF, seeing OB/MFM before 8 weeks?

Congrats!!!! If you were a high risk patient with your first, I would call your high risk Dr. I saw an RE with my first until they released me to Kofinas (MFM) and this time around when we got pregnant on our own, they were the first I called and had my first appointment at 6 weeks and started taking all the meds I was on the first time around at 4 week as soon as I found out just to be on the safe side. Called my OB office that same day and they wouldn't even see me before 8-10 weeks, even though I reminded them that I am a high risk patient.

*Update* I went to my RE today. Since I'm only 4.5 weeks he didn't see anything but he did say "good news" there is a cyst on the right ovary that indicates a pregnancy.... does anyone know what this means? I had this last pregnancy too. They took blood and will call me with my beta, FSH and P4 tomorrow Chat Icon

They mean the corpus luteum which is a left over follicle from the ovary where you ovulated from.

Re: Former IF, seeing OB/MFM *update!*

Girls, help me out, it's been awhile. The last time, when I had IVF, my transfer date was on the 20th of the month. I got my beta on the 28th and it was 1429. Ok. It was multiples....

I'm trying to figure out if this number is high but remember my conception/fert date this time was 3/13. Beta done April 1st. I'm kinda panicking because it sounds so high!

Beta: 1420
fSh: 1.49
P4: 24.5

I'm a little worried more about it being ectopic over multiples... Please help!

If you ovulated on 3/13 you would be 19dpo. I don't think that beta is too high at all.

ok what about the other numbers? The RE needs me to come in for bloodwork and sono tomorrow morning. I wasn't scheduled to, and yesterday he didn't see a sac yet.
I asked the nurse and she said "oh he's just being overly cautious". Im nervous they know something that I don't

I don't think it's that high, it's within the "normal" levels.

I don't think its an ectopic. From my experience my numbers were always low especially my progesterone number. Also my beta numbers wouldn't increase normally.

For example at 6 weeks it was 431, progesterone 8.
