Molar pregnancy ?

Hello all.. I have been on this site often but don't usually post.At my 12 week apt , it was found that my baby had no heart beat. Unfortunately I m/c at 10w 6 d. I had no signs that anything was wrong just that dr could find hb with Doppler , then did sono gram and lastly did a vaginal sono
Once he did the Doppler and couldn't hear the beating i knew. It took approx another 1 hour for dr to make diagnosis .
Of course I was devastated . Barely listened to the " what comes next speech".. I rushed out and had my husband call later. A few days went by I had a D&c , which physically was ok but emotionally was an awful experience.
Went to my follow up appt and all healed well, just needed to still wait for the Pathology. At this point I am exhausted, stressed, depressed and really hoping to try to move forward but at every turn I feel like the pain won't end.
Last night I finally get the call of the results ... And the answer is molar pregnancy. I know I never heard of this, my mind went blank and I feel I didn't and don't understand what that really means. Does anyone have any experience with this. Any what to expect advice? Thank you for allowing me to vent a bit, I def have been keeping everything bottled up.

Re: Molar pregnancy ?

I had a Partial Molar pregnancy - I had a similar thing Saw the heartbeat then when I went back around 10 weeks for repeat u/s no HB Chat Icon so my drs did a D&C they had ran the genetics on it because this was my 5th MC at that point so when the test results came back - the Karaotype was 46xxy so they said it was chromosomal issues - and never made mention of the molar pregnancy....thing is I never really stopped spotting and still felt majorly pregnant with bad nausea - so I waited about another month and called my Dr back and said something was not right - with my symptoms they had ne do a Beta it came back over 9000 a month after D&C so he had me come right back in and did an U/s and it was then that they saw the molar pregnancy - and then after another d&C it was correctly diagnosed....If you have any questions feel free to FM - I had persistant betas for almost 8 months and had to have methotrexate to get them dowm but I did go on to have my DS right after they came down Good luck to you - I know its a bit scary bc its so rare again if you need anything let me know.

I'm sorry that happened to you.Chat Icon

I personally did not have experience with it but I know a decent amount about it because of my line of work. The most important thing I remember off the top of my head is that your beta HCG levels must return to zero and you resume your regular cycle before you try again ( if you want to). As far as the pathology, I just remember that it has to do with genetic malformation of chorionic villi resulting in a hydatidiform mole. It gets very complicated.

In the case I had, the woman went on to have a perfectly healthy baby. Good luck and feel better!

Re: Molar pregnancy ?

With my 1st pregnancy I had a molar pregnancy. I am so sorry you are going through this ! I know after my D&C they had to follow up with me to make sure my numbers went down. It was so rare especially at my age (18) that every pregnancy I had and told them they asked me a ton of questions ( the docs) about that pregnancy !Chat Icon
