Potty training help
My son is almost 3 years old and we started to potty train him with his daycare. We started with him straight to underwear and pull ups for nap and sleep. He has done great with pee but lately he has been having poop accidents every day at daycare and we are tossing underwear. I am not sure what to do. Does anyone have advice to help get him to tell his teachers and us he has to go. We do prizes at home and at school they do stickers and make a big deal.
Any advice is appreciated.

Re: Potty training help
Does he show signs of having to poop before he goes? My DD would always hide, so I knew to grab her and run to the potty. Also, she tended to go around the same time each day. Maybe watch him for signs and catch him before he goes...I know that doesn't help at Daycare, but it could help him get the hang of pooping on the potty at home.

Re: Potty training help
He does and we do grab him and go. Most times he does not make it, some he gets some in. He does not go at the same time otherwise that would make it easier for us.

Re: Potty training help
Offer a bigger prize for pooping in the potty. Something he really wants or more of what he is already getting. And let him see it so that he keeps wanting it and thus tries to poo in the potty. For my DS it was 1 M&M for peeing in the potty but 4 M&M's for poo. He doesn't get candy at home so this was big. He started pooing the potty on day 2. He was easy to train though.

Potty training help
We have the same issue. I'm trying everything and nothing is working. He also goes at random times. Gotta say though - I don't toss the underwear - otherwise I'd be buying new packages all the time! I wash them out in the clean toilet bowl water, then throw them in the wash.

Re: Potty training help
DS did this too.
Lasted 3 months. Then he fully trained for poop. He just was OK sitting to poop one day. We took pictures.
Try switching the potty for a toilet with toilet seat (that's what we did, but I'm not sure if it was the factor that did it).
We washed the underwear. Washed them in the bathroom sink. It was unpleasant, but we survived.

Re: Potty training help
We had this issue too. We just made a huge deal out of the times he did make it to the potty and we started a potty chart on a dry erase board in the bathroom. Every time he gets it in the potty, he gets to draw a star. He gets an X if he misses. We also bride with m&ms and his iPad. He does not get his iPad everyday until he goes "poopy in the potty". So far so good for the last month.

We actually only use the toilet with a seat for him, we never did the potty for the kids. He is at daycare and if they are gross the underwear, they toss it. It will get expensive if he has an accident everyday and they toss his underwear. I think we will do a bigger prize and see how that goes. Wow 3 months that is awhile, but that is great that he just did it. He has pooped in the potty but he just does not seem to get that feeling to go and tell someone, he is not there yet so that he still needs to get the hang of. Thank you ladies I am glad I am not alone.
