Stony Brook OB/GYN rave
Monday, after my regular 35 week appointment, I went home and promptly fell twice on my very slippery porch. I was so nervous and sore and scared, and the office had already closed. I decided to wait a while and see if I had any pain or bleeding down there, and called the emergency line. They sent me to L&D for observation.
After seeing a bunch of nurses, and a few students, Dr. Welischar came down to triage to check up on me. She was in her coat and had obviously just come in. I was happy that she came down to reassure me and talk to me. She also checked out my sonogram and made sure everything was ok.
I was impressed and touched that she bothered to come down. I had to go to the hospital a few weeks ago with some minor cramping and Dr. Porte didn't come down to see me. He could have been delivering, who knows, but I wasn't expecting her to come after he didn't.
Thank God, everything is OK and baby girl stayed put. 4.5 more weeks!

Stony Brook OB/GYN rave
Glad to hear all was okay. I love all of them: Porte, O'Keefe, Welischar and Lochner. Porte was most likely busy delivering because I find him to actually be the most attentive. The ONLY complaint I have about them is that when I delivered DS in August 2012, none of them delivered him. I went into labor at 2:45 am and delivered him at 3:55 pm and I had a different OB from a different office. I had no idea this was a possibility so it was really unnerving. It turns out that on some evenings and on Sundays during the day, none of them is on call. They work with a different group and the dr who delivered my son was from that other group. I'm not sure if this is the norm elsewhere but it did make me uncomfortable.

They have been doing that for a couple of years now. They are associated with three village. My old OB practice starting doing this too when I delivered my first with them. I think a lot of practices are doing this.

Love them all. Dr. Welischar is actually my main doctor and she is just that kind of person to come and talk to you. I love Dr. Porte too. They took care of me during my pregnancy. However another Dr did deliver me on a Sunday morning I was an emergency c section.

Yep delivered on a Sunday here too and didn't realize they weren't on call. For me it was unnerving to have a "stranger" deliver my baby. Going to keep my legs closed tightly each Sunday this time around lol!
With my prenatal package this time, there was a note in there saying how they work with this other office and you can set up a meeting with them just so you can see them in case you end up delivering with them. I feel funny doing this. Did any of you do this? Was it awkward?

I must have missed that in the paperwork. I didn't make an appt with anyone else. Though I have yet to meet dr lochner, so I guess it doesn't really matter. Hope I don't go on a Sunday!

I had such a complicated pregnancy their was no need for me to meet the other doctors because I was always in the hospital so I basically saw every ob gyn at stony brook so I got to know all the groups as ironic as that may be. Also saw maternal fetal docs there too
