Q regarding tubal ligation
Evening ladies! I am having my 3rd section on Tuesday! I am currently struggling with tubal ligation. We have told my ObgYN that we didn't not want this done during the section. Now we are second guessing and are considering this procedure during the section. Our home is currently on the market and we are looking for a 5 bedroom home only so we can have extra room for a play room/guests. Maybe a small part of me also wants 5 bedrooms for a potential 4th although another part of me thinks 4 will be too much for our family. I hope this post does not offend anyone. The question I am wondering is, how did you know tubal ligation was the right thing for you? My doctor said it would have no impact on the c section recovery. Any thoughts or personal experience would be much appreciated if you don't mind sharing!! Thank you

Re: Q regarding tubal ligation
I am doing it when I have my C-section in May. I hated being pregnant this time, am 35 years old, and really don't want to have another one. If I was on the fence I wouldn't do it and go for a less permanent birth control method!

Q regarding tubal ligation
I had hyper emesis bad. I had a PICC line places at 26wks and had iv medication and fluids until I delivered March 27, 2014 at 34w2d due to IUGR and no amniotic fluid. Each pregnancy has gotten much much harder. We wanted 4 or 5, but the reality is 3 is all my body can handle having myself. We hope to foster or maybe adopt in a few years. The answer for me is I didn't want to and I still regret it, but I had to. I honestly think another pregnancy would kill me. If you have any doubts I would wait. If you have normal anatomy in a few years or whenever you are ready look into the Ensure procedure or a vasectomy for your husband. Better to wait and be sure then to just do it because you'll be open already.

Re: Q regarding tubal ligation
If you are on the fence about having a 4th, don't do it. I am currently expecting out third child. We were on the fence about the third and were praying to be content with two......needless to say, God answered our prayer and shocked us with this pregnancy! This pregnancy has been hell for me and as much as I can't wait to hold my little one, for us, three children is a lot and I never want to be put in this situation again! We are choosing to have my tubes tied so that we are content with three children and I never have to be pregnant again! Good luck to you in whatever you decide!

Q regarding tubal ligation
I am having my section a week from Thurs and am getting mine tied during the procedure. I had a uterine rupture two years ago, so this pregnancy was really pushing it healthwise. I am high risk and have several complications. We never thought we'd be able to have a second child, so this pregnancy has been a blessing.

Re: Q regarding tubal ligation
My DH wants me to have one when I deliver but I don't really want to. I think if he wants to make sure we have no more children he can have a vasectomy. I am curious if I do decide to do it are there any side effects. Do your periods change? Are they more painful or less? Does it affect anything?

This is my issue as well. My mother had breast cancer, I have had a few scares with lumps in my breast, plus I lost an ovary. I . Am on 3rd pregnancy with twins so I will have 4 kids. I am 37 and don't really see us having more, but I worry about any hormonal side effects. Plus, it just seems so final to me and unnatural. Not sure what to do either.

Re: Q regarding tubal ligation
I was 39 and just had my third. I work full time and while I do have help, I just don't think 4 would be possible. I had my tubal ligation during my C-section. No issues. Very happy now not worrying about birth control.

I am having my 4th and am 36, this will be our last, bu I decided against the tubal because I have horrible periods, very heavy and painful, and I have heard too many stories in which people's periods have gotten worse after a tubal. I just don't want to take a chance. I'll be getting another Mirena, I liked it a lot. I'm also going to try convince DH to get a vasectomy at some point.

Q regarding tubal ligation
I am really struggling with this myself.... I'm having my 3rd C-section in August...initially we (DH and I) said we were done and Id tie my tubes during my C-section.... then once I actually got preggo- I started to question if that's what I really wanted.... Thought once I knew the sex, that might change (I have 2 boys)...sure enough baby #3 is a girl and I'm still so undecided.... I really feel like 3 fits us.... We have a 4bdrm house, my oldest is gonna be 9; and I just think- I'm done.... but I'm also only 30 and feel like its sooo permanent and Im too young (although I don't wanna be on birth control for the rest of my life either).... DH is no help, because although most of the time he says he's done- he often says "we could do 1 more".....
I keep hoping that my eyes will be opened and Ill just "know" but right now Im leaning towards NOT doing the tubal and then hopefully down the road when we know for sure DH will get sniped!
