Registry Vent
So this is way small in the scheme of things but I can't help but be annoyed....
My baby shower is in 3 weeks so I logged onto my registry last night to make sure there were still enough choices on there, and nothing was out of stock etc. When I signed on I discovered there was still plenty to choose from, but for some reason someone went completely off the rails and purchased 7 items that were not on my registry! Of course I still think its generous of someone to want to give me a gift, and I am appreciative and all... but I can't help but think why should I have even bothered with a registry if people are gonna pick out their own stuff anyway? I could understand picking something on your own if it was coming down to the wire and there was not much left to choose from, but there is still a ton of gifts at every price point available!
Obviously I'll just return the stuff and pick out the things I really want but its just annoying since I made a registry available so people would know the things I really want! Also the person has horrible taste and literally every single thing will need to be returned LOL

Re: Registry Vent
I know what you mean...I am so thankful and grateful for every gift I receive but I had my shower last week and I would say about 80% of people gave me clothes for the baby and not registry items. Yes, the clothes are adorable and I know it's hard to resist buying little girl clothes but she probably will not wear a lot of them b/c they grow so quickly. Most people did not give gift receipts either. Some family members & close friends were beyond generous so we got a lot of our big items (strollers, car seats, pack n play, etc.) but there is still a lot I need to buy. Waiting to get my completion discount and to collect some more BBB coupons lol.

Those items actually might not be for you. I've seen in the past that someone goes in to buy something for your registry and they also buy stuff for themselves and those items happen to get scanned into your registry - it's the stores way of making it easier for you to return. Hopefully this stuff wasn't for you.

I know, hopefully that's the case. Either way I'll be appreciative for sure!

AND if they are for you bc they are now on your registry its SUPER easy to return/exchange them so even though you find it annoying its going to be helpful in the end.

Agree with both posts. They probably arent for you and if they are it will be easy to return.

The vast majority of friends and colleagues will buy you clothes. (I find Carter's to be the most popular store from which these clothes come from). It's still thoughtful and nice, and I appreciated every little thing I received. I do understand your vent about the registry though, but at least you get a completion discount for all the things you need.

I agree that a lot of people will get clothes and I am ok with that and expect that. The weird thing is these particular items are not clothing and not everyday type useful things. They were very specific items, most of them very strange, for example this:

Wait- you can see other items that people buy even if you didn't register for them? Its been awhile for me here, but I had no clue you could see that!

If the purchaser has the cashier scan the registry and doesn't specify what items should be on there everything in the order can end up "purchased" on the registry. So now on my registry I have random items that I did not add. Next to those items it says requested 0, purchased 1. Meaning it was not part of my originally requested list.

This must be a buy buy baby thing.... I bought stuff off my own registry (BRU) along with other things I needed and only the things I registered for are listed.....
