C-section Question
I had an appointment yesterday and at the end of my appointment my doctor and I was chit chatting. I told him please I just want to make sure when we schedule my section its early enough ( both my kids were 38 weeks, first was an emergency c second was a scheduled but i still went into labor 12 hours before I was scheduled for surgery and was 7 cm by time i got to the hospital). He said the rules have changed and they can not schedule a section that early! So if I can't hold out to the date they approve ( mid november 40 weeks) I will have to go into labor on my own and have an emergency c! I am so upset over this! If both kids were 38 weeks what is chance this one will be 2 weeks late? I wanted to avoid that labor.

C-section Question
He can schedule it at 39 weeks.
I work in healthcare, and it is true that rules have changed. Insurance companies aren't paying the full rates for early scheduled c-sections. I thought 39 weeks was the cutoff, but I may be wrong.
I personally think that in the situation where it is your third section and you have no other option, there shouldn't be an issue once you are full term.
I'm having twins and they wouldn't schedule me before 38 1/2 weeks

Re: C-section Question
Yep! My dr. just told me they are not allowed to schedule any time before 39 weeks. But even if you go into labor, they can get you prepped pretty quickly for a C-section. This will be my 5th C-section and I'd prefer to wait as close to the due date as possible.

Re: C-section Question
39 weeks, no earlier.
When I had DD, they scheduled me for 38w6d. They knew my EDD, I didn't question it (I didn't know it was hospital policy that they would not schedule before 39w).
It was a nightmare. We almost had to push off the csection for the next day. My OB was able to cite a specific medical reason for going 1 day early (and that was the reason I was having the csection) but do yourself a favor and just go with the 39w rule!

Re: C-section Question
DS #1 was born in 05- scheduled at 37 weeks 3 days, but because of complications...
DS#2 was born in 2009- and at that point I was told it was not allowed to be any earlier than 39 weeks.... He was scheduled for 39 weeks 1 days..
Baby#3- again; I was told no sooner than 39 weeks and of course my Dr isn't in the OR that day- so baby will be scheduled for 39 weeks 4 days....(unless Id like to see a different Dr in the practice- which at this time, I do not want to do)

Re: C-section Question
i heard the same thing....they wont scheduled you before 39 weeks, unless its medically necessary. Unfortunately, i dont think not wanting to go into labor would be considered medically necessary...i totally wish it was...i'm in the same boat!

Re: C-section Question
My OB would only schedule a C-section for 39 wks and beyond.
I had two C-sections. With my first one my water broke a few hours before my scheduled C-section at 39 weeks. With my second, my DS was content to never come out. I had him at 40w4d.

Re: C-section Question
The only option for me to go before 39 weeks was to do an amnio to confirm lung maturity. That is the rules the hospitals have. IN the end I did not due it.

C-section Question
I wanted to schedule my first C-section for the day before Thanksgiving 2012 with my favorite Dr. It was 38W6D and they denied it! I then had to wait until the Monday after Thanksgiving to schedule it.

I hope I can make it to the 39 weeks! both times to the day was 38 weeks. The dr said he would watch me closely at the end. I had a bunch of issues the end of my last pregnancy I needed blood transfusions before I had my surgery and I am hoping to avoid all that this time around!
