Anyone see worsening behavior during allergy season?
DS has been having a tough time lately behavior wise. Last Fall it was the same, then he was fine all winter and then as soon as the pollen counts started going up his behavior went downhill.
We don;t have him on anything becasue we thought the allergy eds were the cause of his behavior in the Fall but now I'm thinking its the allergies that are making him more suseptable to his outbursts.

Yes. When DS is uncomfortable his behavior is worse. I do have him on allergy meds, but he still isn't 100%. He has some expressive delays with some sensory issues so when he's uncomfortable it's harder for him to tell me how he feels and takes longer to snap out of his grumpy mood.

Could be.
I also notice this time of year there's lots of changes with routine given school breaks, time change and such.
I think it's a combination of things for DS.

Re: Anyone see worsening behavior during allergy season?
ABSO-FREAKING-LUTELY!!!!
My DS had some behavior issues in general, but I started noticing 3 years ago that we see a spike in problem behaviors with the arrival of spring allergies. 2 years ago I held off on the medicine to see if the medicine was causing the increase in behavior, but it was the allergies themselves. He suffered for about 2 weeks without meds and then I put him on them when I realized the behavior was just as bad without them.
He's been on a behavior plan for about a year and a half and the data last year showed the spike at this time last year.

Re: Anyone see worsening behavior during allergy season?
Not until I started seeing posts like this on Facebook, did I think to myself...maybe the seasons have something to do with it. We've seen a spike in her tantrumsduringbthe last 3 weeks as well. Her nose isn't stuffed and she's not complaining she doesn't feel good so I don't think it's allergies but maybe change of seasons. Like I said, it didn't cross my mind until I started seeing posts about it on Facebook.

Re: Anyone see worsening behavior during allergy season?
Last year definetely! I saw a huge difference in my DS. He was a different person. I didn't have him on medication because I actually thought that was the problem, but if was the allergies. He had such a bad reaction at one point I had to put him on steroids to get the puffiness down in his eyes. He looked awful. Once I got everything under control he was fine again.
This season he seems fine so far. I have him on medication. Last two days his eyes have been watery and his nose is dripping constantly. Hoping he doesn't have reaction like last year.

My son has been off the wall too. We use an all natural allergy medication called D Hist.

Re: Anyone see worsening behavior during allergy season?
OH YES!!!! DS has been more miserable for about 6 weeks now.. Started with the first nice day... The past 7-10 days have been the worst. Even some of his meds aren't working... His SPD is out of control. He spent an hour today sitting in a bucket full of mood sand... HE was ok with that...
