Bicornuate uterus
I just found out I have a Bicornuate uterus today. I am 8w pp with my second 34 week preemie & was having some pain still in my stomach so my ob sent me for a sono. They discovered my Bicornuate uterus & he says this is why I can't carry babies to term.
Was wondering if anyone has any experience with this? TIA!

Re: Bicornuate uterus
Congrats!
My sister does. She delivered at 28 weeks. A friend has it too and carried 3 babies full term. They said it sometimes depends on where the baby implants. There are also varying degrees of it.

Re: Bicornuate uterus
I had this too. My docs found it after my first m/c. I had surgery to have it repaired and have since had 2 healthy babies and carried them both to term.

Re: Bicornuate uterus
I have one as well. Found out during my sono with my first pregnancy. Delivered 2 healthy babies full term (38 & 39 weeks). Was monitored closely throughout both pregnancies, my son was IUGR, only 4.10 when born. However healthy and no issues other than low birth weight and gained quickly. No extended stay in the hospital.
Both babies were implanted in the "good" horn. And my son stretched out my uterus for my daughter, so she was slightly larger (6.12), they are only 14 months apart.
I did however have a C-section with both, primarily because my son was IUGR and they felt he would thrive better outside then in. He was essentially running out of room.
I'm sure you know, but it is something you are born with and usually only find out about when TTC or prego as that is when sonos are performed.
Don't go crazy googling - just be sure you are comfortable with your dr and his expertise in it. I was and I felt it made all the difference.

Re: Bicornuate uterus
Congrats! My mom has a bicornuate uterus. She had two miscarriages before my sister was born, one was around 8 weeks and the other was around 20 weeks They found out about her uterus after the 2nd loss, but this was 30 years ago. She had a special sono with contrast dye.
When she got pregnant with my sister, she was on strict bed rest the whole 9 months & ended up with an emergency C section due to complications during labor. She was not on bed rest with me and had a scheduled C at 38 weeks.

A friend of mine delivered 3 healthy babies close to term, no major issues.

Re: Bicornuate uterus
thanks for everyones responses. my husband and i are done having kids, so future pregnancies wont be an issue for me. i'm going for an MRI next month to get an exact diagnosis of what i have. i'm just upset that they didnt catch this sooner... and if it could have been corrected it with surgery & i could have gone full term with my most recent baby, i'd be upset

I know exactly how you feel. I found out I had a bicornuate uterus as the OB was closing me up during my second c-section. I have 2 DS, both 34 weekers, and both were breech. The OB that was on call said that my uterus was ABSOLUTELY the reason why both boys were early and breech. I wish it was found after DS1, and also wish my practice took me a little bit more seriously and monitored me closer, given my history with my first DS. Both were in the NICU, and DS2 was there considerably longer.

wow we have the same story! 2 boys and both 34 weekers!
my ob is saying this is definitely why i cannot carry babies to term. second time around they monitored me very closely & i was even on bed rest for 8 weeks but sure enough at 34w 4d out came my second boy! my first was 34w 3d

Wow, we really do! My water broke at exactly 34 weeks, to the day, with both. Imagine my surprise the second time around. It was complete déjà vu.
