YUP!

I love my vinyl. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Here are some of my favorite shops:
Other Music

Earwax Records

Kim's

Generation Records on Thompson Street is another favorite of mine...their website is being stupid right now.

Bleecker Street Records

Also, I haven't been here yet (they opened in January) but I've heard stellar things about Rough Trade

This post makes me miss Bleecker Bob's, Subterranean and Tower Chat Icon

Re: Anyone still buy records?

Thanks! You should definitely tour them! They're all downtown or in Brooklyn and you could definitely do them all in one day if you're determined to!

You just missed Record Store Day...mark your calendar for it next year :) Its the third Saturday of April, I believe?

Also if you're ever in San Francisco, go to Amoeba Records and in Seattle, Easy Street Records :)

I adore vinyl. The sound is incredible, the smell, the cracks and pops, the sizzle...ahhhh.

My DH loves records. Can you recommend a good record player? Sorry to hijack your post.

Ours is old...dh had to buy other stuff so that the receiver would play the music too. Everything is digital so there were other components.

Thank you. He has a player but it needs a needle. I haven't been able to find a place to fix it or find a needle.

Re: Anyone still buy records?

I have a Technics turntable. It was pricy but I'm an audiophile so it was a worthy investment for my contentment.
There's a shop in midtown that sells needles; I can't remember the name of it off the top of my head but its on 7th Ave in the 30's.
You could also try a larger Sam Ash or Guitar Center if that's more accessible...the ones that sell DJ equipment should be able to help you out with needles.

Re: Anyone still buy records?

I closed my record store 2 yrs ago, but have a website. Don't want to get in trouble for advertising. Message me if you are interested :)
