I was so scared before my first. The worst part was keeping my mouth open so long- More annoying than painful. I went in for my second one with little fear of the pain. I brought an audiobook and headphones. :)

Am I the only person who's dentist refused to give them Novocain before their root canal? I asked for it and he told me "No, there is no need, the root is already dead".

I will say though, I was in so much pain (worse than child birth) before it was done, I felt like my tooth was about to explode and felt like I was going to pass out from how much pain I was in. The drilling actually made it feel better I think because it relieved some of the pressure.

My dentist also told me he didn't know why I needed the root canal because I had no cavity or injury to the tooth. It was very odd but all I can say is it felt 100x better after it was over.
