Spin-Off: What type of book...

I was curious when I opened GoldenRod's Poll so I figured I would ask:

Re: Spin-Off: What type of book...

I checked off drama, but depending on my mood its usually drama, funny fiction (but not chick lit...I used to love that genre but I feel like it's all the same over and over), and autobiography/biography.

I read plays too, but that's a different type of beast.

Re: Spin-Off: What type of book...

I'm definitely a love story reader but I also enjoy drama and mystery. Hate horror and sci-fi.

I voted for mystery but I tend to gravitate towards historical mysteries. I also read a lot of historical fiction, it's a close second to mystery.

I voted for drama, but I generally prefer historical fiction and literary non-fiction (think Unbroken, and books by David McCullough...like that).

Spin-Off: What type of book...

I read a little bit of everything, but I voted for romance because that's what I tend to gravitate towards.

Re: Spin-Off: What type of book...

I love memoirs of people who suffer from mental illnesses, dystopian future stories, and just general "stories." I'm pretty open to reading anything suggested to me.

Re: Spin-Off: What type of book...

Sci-fi. Especially when someone has a unique perspective on an existing idea. Stephen King's Langoliers was awesome because he had a very unique idea about time and existence.
The Thursday Next series of books is really cool because it delves into a sci-fi world about how books are created. There are police agencies to maintain the books as they are. There are shops where plots are bought and sold. There are viruses that misspell things. Characters in books get bored, so they have an exchange program, where characters can visit other books (in the background so they don't change the story) for a change of pace.
The Bicentennial Man was a unique story about a robot who wanted to be human, and built human parts for himself. Typically, robots are considered to be superior to humans, but this "perfect" robot wanted nothing else but to be as human as possible.
