Dr couldn't measure size of baby

I had my first appointment today. According to my lmp I would be 7 weeks. I never thought that I was this far along. I got a faint bpf the day after AF was due. I am pretty sure that I implanted late. I think I am closer to 6 weeks.
I had a transvaginal us. The Dr saw the baby, yoke sac and flickering heartbeat (such a relief!), but she couldn't get a measurement to confirm how far along I was bc the baby was small. My Dr did not seem concerned at all. She made me an appt to come back June 2nd at one of their other offices (they have better equipment) to get a measurement. Anyone ever hear of this or see this happen? TIA Chat Icon

You might have implanted late and you might have ovulated later than you thought. I am surprised the DOCTOR couldn't measure, but if you saw all 3 of those that's a really good sign. June 2nd is only a week and a half away and (bonus) extra peaks at baby that most people don't get!! I think all is going to be fine, probably just a difficult positioning that first sono.

Thanks Jess!! Yeah, I too thought it was strange that she couldn't zoom in and measure. I don't think they haven the best equipment.

That would make sense. I think my office has some pretty kick butt equipment.

Dr couldn't measure size of baby

It can be hard to measure that early! It's perfectly normal! I went at what I thought was 7.5 weeks, but he didn't want to give me a due date because he couldn't measure. I was really 7 weeks or so. Look at it as a good thing! You get to see baby again!!!

At my first appointment they didn't even attempt to measure we saw a heartbeat at that was sufficient. I went 2 weeks later and they measured the baby

Re: Dr couldn't measure size of baby

My first baby I went earlier than 8 weeks. We saw heart beat and everything but Dr likes to see the baby bigger than 3 mm (if I remember correctly). He wasn't nervous at all that's just his standard that hes comfortable with and then let me come back 4 weeks later.
