Dairy=cystic acne???
Ok, so back in January my face was a mess with big painful zits and cystic acne, I tried everything and nothing was helping, so I read online that dairy affects acne. I was having milk with cereal every morning and a Greek yogurt for lunch everyday, so I figured I would give that up and see what happens. So after about a month the painful zits and cysts went away! I still would get little white heads once and a while but nothing like before. I didn't give up any other dairy like cheese. Anyway, it's been almost 6 months and I was sick of eating oatmeal for breakfast everyday, so just this week (3 days) I have been eating cereal and 2% milk! probably less than 1/2 a cup of milk... Anyway all of a sudden I have one huge cystic zit and 4 more painful lumps!! WTF!! Do you really think it's the milk??? Or could it be a coincidence? I have changed nothing else and I don't have any added stress or anything... If it is the milk, what else is something easy and filling for breakfast I already eat a banana and oJ, but as a teacher I have a long time before lunch so I need something filling and easy!

Re: Dairy=cystic acne???
I don't do any dairy....it could be the hormones they pump into dairy cows that is in the milk and causing it. Zits are usually due to an increase in hormone level. I eliminated all dairy. I eat coconut yogurt, and milk, and ice cream.

Re: Dairy=cystic acne???
I have to say. I was getting a couple big cysts on my face too and I thought it was hormonal. I stopped eating my Greek yogurt and I haven't gotten one since. Plus I started using the new proactiv, so I'm not positive if it's the proactiv or the no yogurt.

Re: Dairy=cystic acne???
I started getting cysts last year and was diagnosed with rosacea acne. My face has never been the same, even when I stopped greek yogurt, but I do eat dairy products in small amounts.

Dairy=cystic acne???
Well it could be a few things, if your dairy products are not organic you're basically drinking antibiotics and hormones so that could do it. Dairy on its own inflames the body so that could do it too. However I eat a mostly organic diet and still get cystic acne. I am still nursing so I think that may be it. Derm says it's hormonal.
I love coconut milk and almond milk. Give them a try and as for the cow dairy you do eat try to minimize it and try organic for a bit and see if it makes a difference. I hate cyctic acne.

It very well could be. Try almond milk in your cereal. Unsweetened Vanilla is SOOO yummy- tastes so much better than cow's milk and is better for you.

Re: Dairy=cystic acne???
Wow, this is very interesting! I go through periods where my cystic acne is bad and its currently at a high point. I will definitely cut my dairy intake and see what happens (I don't want to go on antibiotics again).
