would this piss u off?
I am 39w2d today. Had my last Dr visit on Monday. As usual my Dr's office doesnt have available appointments a week out in order to schedule me for my next monitoring. They, once again, told me will u with time for next appointment. Fine. This keeps happening, so I am used to it by now, tho seriously thinking of finding a new Dr office after delivering as not only its hard to schedule appointments but when I get there I always wait at least an hour - why then the need to set appointment???? Anyways, I waited until today for them to call me. The secretary calls and tells me they are scheduling me for the 19th. My fkn due date!!! Not only its not a week away from previous appointment, but almost basically 2 weeks away from it, but its my fkn DUE DATE. Wtf? I told her that there is no way in hell this is ok with me and I need to come in earlier so they better find me a new appointment. She said ok and called back within 10 mins for this Monday appointment - a week from last visit. so now all of a sudden they do have a slot for me
So what really pisses me off is that they clearly didnt check my due date before calling and considering my cervix is still completely closed plus the baby is pretty high still u think they would want to keep a closer eye on me. Apparently not.
I wanted to let it go and not get too upset, but sht like this really gets under my skin. I need to get over it, right? crazy preggo hormones....

I would be annoyed at the wait time and the fact they always seem to have scheduling issues, but not that they scheduled me on my due date. I had appts scheduled on my due dates for my last 2 babies. I never thought twice about it, other than my wish that I would not make the appt

Ok part of me would be pissed but part not. At this point your due date means next to nothing. Other than not letting you go past a certain date it really means nothing. B
What would bother me is the having to wait an hour once you ate there and not fitting you in. It's so normal for weekly appts at the end so it's the staff there that doesn't know how to run the office.

I completely agree with this. Your due date isn't an issue. The bigger issue is the scheduling.

Agree with the others. I'd be annoyed that they couldn't schedule my appt. But having an appt on your due date isn't a big deal. It's just an EXPECTED due date, so it's not like anything has to happen on that day. I went 10 days early. Some people go 10 days late. Very few actually go on their EDD.

I had an appt on my due date. That wouldn't bother me. And the fact that they now magically have an appointment for you means they are squeezing you in and I'd be willing to bet they are overbooked and you're going to wait a long time m

Exactly. They really should know how to handle this being that weekly appointments are the norm in the last month. I'd be calling tomorrow to find out what happens if you go past your due date. I was seen every 3 days or so at that point. I would worry about what they do in that case too. Not to mention I'd never be able to deal with an hour wait unless it was a very rare occurence.

Yes it's the fact they didn't have an apt for me within the week while I'm this far along, spacing of 11 days between. If I had my last apt yesterday, then being scheduled for due date - a week later, wouldn't be a big deal. I guess I was already pissed off abt them never being able to schedule apt's and then having always to wait for over an hr WITH an apt. Definitely switching Dr's first chance I get
Regarding going past EDD the Dr already explained - a week past due and they induce. Hope it won't get to it.

My docs office is awful with waiting as well. I don't think I've ever waited less than an hour.
I'm 35+3, and originally my doc just told me to schedule a growth sono at the office next week. When I saw her Thursday, she decided she wanted me to see her as well. I went to The front desk, telling them that I could do whatever works best for them. Their response? Oh we just double book you. All of your appointments from here out will be double bookings.
Seriously? No wonder I wait an hour each time!

Re: would this piss u off?
Idk what the issue is w the appt on your due date. 7 days vs 11?
And the reason the found a spot is like the other girls said, they're fitting you in. The wait will prob be worse for you and everyone else

Double bookings?? I think they do triple and quadruple bookings are we going to the same office? Why else are we waiting so long? Once I waited in a waiting room 25mins and then inside the exam room for 1 hour and 10 mins until finally a Dr came in. And there was no apology by the admin staff or an update by a nurse. Unacceptable. I don't understand how it's so tough to schedule apt's when it's a routine weekly check ups at this stage. Boggles my mind.

This was ALWAYS my experience with South Bay. I switched this time around. I can't rush from work to make my 4:30 appointment only to wait until 6 to be seen. There were several occasions toward the end of my first pregnancy where I sent DH outside to complain to the staff about the wait. We never got an apology!

I am not surprised at all that you have trouble making appointments a week out. I really want to reschedule my appointment the last week in July, but there are no openings for the 2 days I could change it to. Are you talking about unanticipated tests? It's not going to be easy to get last minute appointments most places unless you want to see the nurse.

Towards the end of my pregnancy I was seen every 3 days for monitoring and every time I had to wait for over an hour to be seen. I think when they schedule the appointment with such short notice they have no choice but to double or triple book, especially since sometimes the doctors have to leave the office to deliver a baby unexpectedly, and then that throws the schedule off even more. It was extremely annoying, but I gave them a pass considering all that.

Can I ask where you go. It sounds like my first OB. I left my first OB at 20 weeks and my new dr never made me wait. I realized there is no need to have a dr that makes you wait like that.

I would be pissed with how long you are waiting when you are at the actual appointment. At my obgyn, I am usually taken in right away and then the nurse takes my vitals. When in the exam room, I usually wait 5-7 minutes. Twice the wait was longer and I was annoyed. At the very end of my pregnancy I waited at least 30 minutes in the exam room. I actually put back on my clothes to go complain and at that moment, the doctor came in...

Re: would this piss u off?
No, I would not be mad about scheduling my appt on my due date. Because you are high and closed doesn't mean that it's a problem that needs monitoring. It means you're body is not ready to give birth yet. If anything, I'd take the later scheduled appointment because there will be a better chance of progress by then.
For what it's worth, I chose not to have cervical checks before my due date with my last two pregnancies because they are not an indicator of anything. They did them all the time with my first and drove me crazy thinking I could go any day because I had progress. Not so! (I was 5cm dilated with my 3rd for 4 days before I went into labor at 11 days past EDD!)
I would be mad about consistently waiting 1+ hours each appointment. My first OB office was like that. I didn't use them again for my next two pregnancies.
