Private speech therapy
I was wondering if anyone could recommend a private speech therapist. I am going to have my daughter evaluated for EI speech, but I don't think she will qualify. I would like to have speech done privately if that ends up happening and would like to know if anyone has some recommendations in Nassau.
Thanks!

Private speech therapy
My DS has been going to SEEDs of the Williston for over two years now. He was speech delayed but never quantified through EI. I pursued it privately and am happy I did. I love it there.

Re: Private speech therapy
Thank you! I will definitely look into them. I plan on having her evaluated bc I'm concerned with her expressive language. She's 14 months and she understands a lot of what we say, and she points to familiar objects when asked in books, but she's not saying much in the way of reciprocal babbling or approximating when she wants something. She more or less just makes noises when she wants something and we get the occasional babble. I'm not concerned with any other area of development. She's doing great otherwise and I know it's hard to qualify for EI at a young age so I just want to start researching private therapists.
Thanks again for your recommendation!

Re: Private speech therapy
14 months is really young... Giver her another 3 months... My son had a few words at 15 months and no new words at 18 months. He was evaluated at 21 months (EI says that is the best age to do it) and he qualified right off for 2 days of speech and then they upped it to 3 days a week after 3 months... She may not qualify with going private either and your insurance may not cover it because she is so young and has no other issues... You can always give it a shot though.... I use LI Speech and Myofunctional Therapy in Wantagh for my sons feeding therapy. They do evaluations..

Private speech therapy
OMG so glad I checked this board today. I posted a similar question last Spring and based on recommendations, decided to go with the Tot Talk program at Adelphi University.
My son is now 2.5 (he started in February and is currently enrolled in the summer session) and has grown by leaps and bounds. The class is run as a nursery school- play time, circle time, craft, snack, dance, story ect. I believe it's an hour and a half or 2 hours, I can't rave enough. There is a 1:1 ratio with the director of the speech therapy program supervising. VERY affordable, I don't mean to gush but please look into it, great resource.
ETA: Just saw that your daughter is only 14 months. I don't think Adelphi enrolls until 2 so something to look into later.
